The coral reef is a great find but, most of the "coral" being seen there are actually fossilized sponges. Also, those sponges are growing on the surface of the rock that has been eroded away, that means they grew way AFTER the reef was dead and fossilized. They grew in the cave!! You can see the sponges growing along horizontal lines, like a high water mark. Further, they grew in total darkness (other sponges grow deep enough to be in darkness, but there was a supply of food coming from somewhere, where? Although sponges have skeletons made of glass, they too would have been eroded by the same power of rushing water and could not have remained attached as the rock was eroded away and out from underneath them. The more I think of it those sponges might not be very old (geologically speaking). OH WOW! You know what? You guys have found The Land of the Lost!! A prehistoric cave in a modern world. Watch out for Sleestaks!! You guys may have found something very cool. P.S., I think those creepy spiders were brown widows, but you guys were in a little ways, what was there for them to eat? Cave critters are a trip.

@TwinShards2 жыл бұрын
I assume the cave exit (the waterfall) was closed or partially closed but opened up at some point in time. When it was closed(partially) the water level must have stay high for years and years so those corals or sponges grew under water and when the erosion finally caused a break in the rock all the water suddenly flushed roughtly at the same water level it is today.
@mikemalo63362 жыл бұрын
@@TwinShards still the sponges grew in total darkness within an already extant cave. They were supposed to be in the ocean. That's the point, when was there an ocean connected to that part of rhe country?

I'm super fascinated with cave/diving videos, and one thing I can say about you guys is that you never push your limits to the point of stupidity. Like, if it's tight space, you accept it and back out. Even if it looks like it could possibly be done, it's not worth the risk. I admire that. Hopefully, that will keep you adventuring for a long time. 🙌🏼

1:45 got me thinking. give those little slot canyons in the rocks a bajillion years and they'll have a chance to turn into something like the grand canyon because of erosion. if rivers are constantly eroding, and a lot of rivers feed bigger rivers that eventually end in the ocean, could natural erosion be a big contributor to rising sea levels? anyway, cool cave.
