We found something very similar and it turned out to be a fresh air vent for a cold war shelter/survival bunker from the late 50s and early 60s .. Found a few more holes that looked like they were missing weather vents as well. Unfortunately the people inside will be there forever or they got out when they ran out of supplies and never returned.

My vote is for the site of an old windmill for a stock tank. It had an empty can as a cover. Drop string with large fishing weight to tell depth and if it has water. WCSC 1/4 is a survey corner marker. If so, then there 3 others and one has the paperwork.

Reminds me of when I was a young girl staying at my grandparents' ranch in West Texas. Their country home was at least 10 miles from the nearest town. So, they burned their trash in a dried-up creekbed not too far from their ranch house, cans and all. When a chicken died, they would burn it with their trash. If the chicken cooked rather than burned up, the other living chickens would eat it. Canabalistic chickens!

One thing I know from being a pilot I seen alotta steel tube casings driven into practice ranges for ID flags for us and that could either be one or an air vent which are usually a little larger like 3"tubing. The AF and other military agencies drove the tubes into the ground for things like marker flags and air socks for chopper practices. U see an aircraft creates wind and a wash when it goes by so the flags and other markers would not get blown over.

I don't know if anyone pointed this out but 94 Inches is 7 feet 10 in which is 7' 10" or 7' 11" (10 with carpet and 11 with sub-flooring) is the exact size most condos and apartment flats and older houses (pre-1990s) are because of 8 feet of rockwall sheet. 94 inches screams ceiling height. perhaps someone dropped a shipping container or a military structure or someone built a room using standard 8 foot construction material and that's typical size venting pipe about a coffee can. I would suggest a endo/bore scope (as mentioned) or even better is get a spool of nylon string and crazy glue a "cube" (shape) spy cam to it. they're the size of a large dice and they're dirt cheap off of amazon or temu. less than 15-20 bucks. you can have an amazon delivered to any local town with a amazon locker and they charge up on any usb power bank. its much smaller than a go-cam cube size of a US quarter and they're IR as well. i was impressed with mine. low grain 1080p but good luck with your "Dutches mine" / fun video

Need to add something like a panasonic hx-a1 to your tool box. You can find good used ones on the auction sites. You can drill a hole in the cap and attach a HD ball bearing snap swivel and seal it with some jb weld. Tie some kevlar braided line to the swivel using one of them fancy fishing knots so it won't slip off and your set. It's wifi too. Hit a farmers market for an old deep sea fishing rig and saw the pole off after the first loop and your good to go. Portable shaft camera.

When my grandma was young my grandpa was digging a well. He needed a small body to lower down the hole and fill buckets of soil to clean it out. All the farm boys were in school so he asked my grandma to do it. She said in a deep narrow hole when you look up it appears that it's night, and you can see the stars shine in the day time. I guess he could always get another wife ? I was both horrified and proud that my grandma was a badass.

You just found an Elites air hole for a underground radiation bunker. They are or were hiding the air vent hole with the rusty can so it would blend with the rest of the rocks and old trash. Probably, if I were gonna make an entrance to a underground home, one of the huge antique looking boulders would be made from styrofoam. Or a picky bush is hiding an entrance which also looks like a old boulder. Anything or anyone could be living under that Arizona desert. Case in point is Nam. They had entire villages built underground. Not just little holes. Then, there is the entire theory that the aliens live under the ground, and been there before we showed up, IE lizard people. It's all on ones perspective. However, with the dawning of drones and total lack of privacy, I think living underground is a good idea. But no matter where one lives, some nosey adventurer person can and will find your rusty can and flip it over. Heck if that hole was under a tipped boulder someone hunting for gold would have winched it to find more gold and found the air vent. Lol Unless you want to be A. Shot by a irate hole owner hiding from something or someone. B. Sucked in to another dimension C. Eaten by lizard people D. Zombified by aliens and microchipped... Just leave it alone and pretend you didn't see it. That could be a can full of worms you don't need. D.

That would be creepy if it was some sort of shelter built underground and that was an air vent. What would you need a shelter out there underground in the middle of nowhere for. The cans and other leftovers that remain there at the site were probably from them eating while they built the shelter. Other thought. Possibly The Ledges he felt when pushing the tape measure down we're actually stairs to a Stairway leading Underground. I'm curious if you could fill the hole with water and if it would stay full and or how fast it would empty out.

What if I told I found some Spanish coins when I was 15 in Apache Junction,. I am now 42, but what happened is I took 5 of them to see if they were worth anything,. The guy who tested them called somebody that told it illegal to have those. They kept the coins and wanted to know where I found them. I truthfully couldn't tell you what those coins really were, obviously They were worth something. They watched me until I turned 18 and moved to Oklahoma because I refused to tell them where I found them. They took my family's property and destroyed us. I bet those coins are still there. GPR that entire area, it could be 1 of many air sources for a mine or cavern. The actual source may be quite a distance away but document the rock piles and map stone. If you can get actual GPS coordinates of everything, that would be fantastic. I would say run a Borescope down the hole if you have the means. Definitely a treasure hunters dream to come upon such markings and anomalies, I hope it turns out to be the BIG one brother. The markings and outcroppings of quartz are definitely a great sign.

The super fine rock around the hole look like tailings from the drill. The flat spot was probably for the drill or part of the rig depending on the drill used. The I bet if you look there was a prospect or a claim at that spot at one time. Or yes it’s a portal!

Why would vertical holes be drilled in the desert in that manner? Survey activity, don’t think so based on my knowledge of the USGS National survey. All locations locations are recorded on Township/Range Section Maps. I have a stamped brass alloy marker. I would never remove one but a person handed it to me long ago. These are used to mark specific locations based on established Meridien Baseline points. There is far more i don’t know then know so i will leave there for others to cretic. Back the vertical string… the lineman in me can witch water with brass rods. i can also generally estimate the depth. There are others much better then me that can do this. That appears to be a well attempt and the hand pump would attach to the metal pipe. My errors and opinion are my own of course. The term Bench Mark jumped out at me this morning as i walked by the Marker.

What was the sphere behind you about 3 minutes 30 seconds by the shadow the sun was in front of you and as it passed behind you it disappeared thinking you should have been able to see it on the other side of your head but was gone

I think the hole is bigger and somebody close it and leave a small opening with the can. All the old cans could be a landmark .
