Hi Mick one Mackay boy to another glad to see you pushing the boat through the shallows,most people don't understand the work it can take in these big tidal creeks. Keep up the good work
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah thanks mate!! it’s all part of the adventure! I’d rather push it through while there’s enough water still than be trapped in a crappy pool!!

I don't mind getting out and lazily pushing the boat down here on the Sunshine Coast. Up where you are, I reckon I could walk on water with those crocs about 😆
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah but it sure beats being stuck in the shallow hole we would have been trapped in for 6 hours. I’m pretty savvy with the crocs, I only get in if it’s clean and shallow and even then I’m very alert, wouldn’t recommend it to everyone!

Show us the runs along the coast too Mick. All part of fun. Pick up my Outlaw in a few days. In Vic. BTW, for reference, we have basically zero idea on half the stuff you are catching. Awesome vidoes-jealous of the fishing you have up there.
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate!! You’ll love that boat 👌🏻 I’d like to put more backgrounds and scenic stuff like the coastal runs in, but it can do a lot of harm to the fishery, especially when netters find them.. I try to only let small selected frames of the landscape slip here and there to show some of the nice scenic landscapes I’m fishing amongst! But as I say I’m quite selective and that’s to keep the locations I fish somewhat on the quiet…

What about really old systems that are highly abused and mostly fished-out like Rockhampton’s Fitzroy River & Port Alma. How do yo find fish in those kinds of places
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Those systems have more fish than the ones I’m fishing, persistence is the key and being alert to what’s happening and learning patterns as you go, but yeah you’ll pick up a lot of relevant info from most of my estuary videos that you can put into practice to see what works down there..

Ha I see your boat has a Yamaha f60 I have one on my boat and love it. I want to put a trolling motor on my 4.9 meter aluminum boat. I have talked to 3 places they advised me to fit a 24v 80lb motor it sounds over kill. What do you think.
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I reckon they’re right you’ll want the 80lb… 55lb would do it but it’ll be slow and chew the batteries…

Hey Mick, me and my mates are keen fisherman and we can’t seem to find a lure that calves up in most eastury fish, what would be your suggestion
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
The one in my last clip bro, not necessarily that color but I’ve had a heap of luck on these Lucky Craft Pointer 78XD. You want the lure to get down hold the rod tip down and crank, you want it to stay shallow, high rod tip and twitch. Hands down my favorite estuary lure for casting!

Awesome video, learned a lot! Quick question, Do you prefer spring tides or neap tides? Or something in between? Thanks and keep up the great content!
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, yeah I like any building tides leading up to the full and new moon. It’s harder the fish but also harder for the fish to feed so when they do bite the action is a bit more intense… but that also makes it easier to miss your windows. For threadfin I like smaller tides as they’re a bit more fickle but for barra and just about everything else I like bigger tides
