Tom, At age 78 I am very impressed at the broad extent of your knowledge of all kinds of antiques. Many years ago, I collected 1880's-1910's bottles and jugs. But also branched out into many other antiques. Were your parents collectors of antique items? Also, I might add that those large cylindrical batteries that you often find in privies, were likely used in those old Ring Type Oak Box Telephones. It was the power source for sending ring tones and voice conversations down the telephone wires.

My grandma had a lot of family heirlooms. She to some degree got me interested in history. I’m named after a great grandfather who fought in the war of 1812. When I was about ten she gave me the musket he carried.

Tom, love your vids. Great way to escape the troubles of the world. Have you ever considered using something like this to find digging locations: "Stainless Steel Soil Sample Probe and Combined Probe Rod, Adjustable 17-32-48 Inch Probe Tool with T-Handle"?

I actually have only a few bottles in my collection. I’ve gone to many bottle shows but the last couple years haven’t being that they’re usually going on around the time the ground thaws (I’m usually digging around that time.

Some videos will have them, others won’t. It’s based mainly on how much free time I have. It’s time consuming to clean/photograph them properly. I’ve been running the channel single handedly so haven’t had a lot of free time lately

If you’re ever over in NE Ohio I’d love for you to dig up our yard 😂😂 my house was built in 1892, and just digging for gardens and burying pets I’ve found a ladies compact, cologne bottle, pottery shards, clay marbles and old nails. Can’t imagine what is down deeper !!!
