Exploring A Very Rare And Toxic Mine

Hey everyone!
Welcome back to the channel and thanks for watching our first episode in 2024. In this video we travel to Kamloops, BC in search of a rare Mercury Mine. We weren’t sure what we were going to find as the reports mentioned a lot of collapses and unstable ground. But with the help of a subscriber Adam, we found some adits and had the opportunity to film and document this rare mine.

That's a beautiful area, as you mentioned. It's always fun to get out and look around even if the underground workings weren't huge. It looked like possibly some retort parts laying around. There are a lot of different configurations for them.

I explored another mine right near there in the 90s. It’s different though and has a large pool of water in it. There is also an upper chamber that had a wooden entrance to it. You could walk fully standing in this one. Also had rats living in it. Great video. Makes me want to go find the pics I took back in the day.

Mercury is highly volatile. You should have some device for measuring the mercury levels in adits as they could have potentially toxic levels of mercury vapor in the air.

Well, we do carry a monitor, but doesn’t specifically test for mercury. I believe mercury is most toxic during the processing.

My mom was born in 1925, kids would break open thermometers and play with mercury. roll it in their hands, she lived to 91. I bought a house. they pulled out 15 55 gallon drums of dirt - mercury from a broken thermometer. from under the house. how stupid, what a scam

We spend a lot of time researching these places and then spend many of our days off doing the exploring part. It’s an interesting hobby!
