Nice to see the property was not trashed or stripped, just slowly decaying from the water ingress. The travellers camped out front probably helped to deter vandals.

Me and the boys have been there recently. It’s way more derelict now. Ceilings caving into the floors below. Very treacherous to walk around upstairs… No carpets or furniture to speak of anymore.

The problem is, rightly or wrongly, inheritance tax. The family has lots of money, built their mansion, but over the generations as the property is passed on so the inheritance tax needs paying - how do you pay 30(?)% of a few million? Sell / mortgage the property? Then figure in the crazy maintenance costs of something like this and you can see why they go abandoned. In this case they sold to a Hotel and got a good return, but for others it could be beneficial to 'donate' it to the national trust which will ensure its survival.

Another first class video lads with the library and main entrance being the highlights for me. Nice to see very little evidence of vandalism, but also such a shame for what was obviously an amazing building, to be left to rot. Its sad that some sectors of society are very wasteful, in particular, those with too much money/assets and not enough sense to both see what they have, or understand what those less fortunate don't have. I do hope that the new owners fulfill there plans to restore the building.

Very cool dilapidated refurbishment. Set designers/fashion photographers would have loved this place in 2022. Hopefully restoration can happen again, though the signs of water damage are quite advanced - and that amazing green wall! Props to the horse but it wasn't much use as security!

It’s often a pattern like that - a building closes, is used as a filming location, the decay becomes too bad for it to be safe, etc etc

I hope the new owners fulfil their promise to restore it. Since this was two years ago do you have an update ? Besides all of that, to me, it is amazing the way nature slowly reclaims abandoned buildings. The window views from the inside of the vegetation coming in are beautiful.

Hey guys, I love your adventures and really appreciate how you add in history and old photographs, etc. Can you possibly show a little more detail sometimes? You mentioned the details on the false book doors above the library, then didn't show it up close. The same happened with the iron work railings, tiles, and fireplaces. These would only take a moment and help us really appreciate the depth of details, that we can't see. I feel like it could rake your videos to a whole new level? Thanks for sharing, I did enjoy the beautiful, old place. I think some of these structures just get too big of a project to take on? Just my thoughts. Again, ty!

"Funny" that some british people go to France by castle and fix it. And in Irland/UK you can find lovely buildings,castle,etc that are falling apart with no hopes for the future. Sad in did...

Its a shock what's happened to this Mansion house, I thought a property developer would have bought it and changed it into Flats, that's the way forward for a property like this

I think a few years ago this was likely, but now the building has a whole load of additional problems and more expense for a developer

We sometimes do, but sometimes we don’t want the extra body heat! It was a hot day when we explored this place :)

No signal it's hard to tell, lol. If you download a complete map, of where you are you don't need WiFi or data to use it. Phones have GPS Which in an nutshell listens to satellites in space to triangulate where you are.
