It breaks my heart to see those family photos and paintings left behind. I agree with you, the windows on those doors were cool. I kind like the setup of this place, just needs a bigger bathroom!!

Yes it is always sad seeing photos left behind. Sad that nobody seems to care about them.

The house really was in bad shape after years of neglect. It was probably owned by an elderly couple as the décor leaned more towards an older couple decorating taste rather than that of a young couple. There were many pictures presumably of the family. From the look of the pictures, based on the fashion sense and style put on by some of the people, they seemed like from the forgotten era of the 20's or much earlier. Strange, that the family pictures were intentionally left behind was sad for whatever reason it may be. Probably, most of those in the pictures had passed on, and to some people keeping the pictures of the dead at home as a remembrance could be heart wrenching. They rather prefer to remember their beloved deceased in their hearts. Thanks Riddim Ryder.

The cabinet in the kitchen that circled around was a potato bin. We used to live in a house with tinted front windows next to the front door. I remember when I was four years old waiting for my dad to get off work hoping to see his shadow when he came to the front door. Very interesting house. Thank you for the video.

My dad's homeplace had a front door with 3 descending rectangular windows in a light colored wood. I can't remember when that door wasn't there, about 1953! This was in Indian Territory in Oklahoma (Muskogee).

Great explore! I wonder if that certificate wasn't for teaching religious studies? As far as the casket photo goes, yes that used to be a thing. I remember my grandma having many such photos when I was a little kid in the 1970s. It freaked me out. It used to be a tradition in the early 20th century. Wealthier families would often have paintings done. They would pose family members, usually young children, with the body of the person who died. Think of it as a rather morbid "life painting" but featuring the dead. No thank you, hard pass lol

In case no one has said it.. The certificate is a Certificate of religious instruction. Basically I assume whomever it belongs to went to school to become a Pastor. I assume it is a Pastoral diploma. But I don’t speak French so I’m just goin off of google translate.
