Amazingly beautiful prison (if you can even call it that). Shows you how RICH Portugal was for them to not spare any beauty or detail even for a prison!

Fantastic building, it's got it all, don't know if anyone would agree but some angles of the building could be forgiven for being a court or even a shopping mall, I don't think I have ever seen a prison look so impressive. Such a shame it is rotting away, I am sure they don't make prisons like this anymore anywhere in the world.

That paper at 14:07 is not just any random paper. It's dated just a few months after the Carnation Revolution and it looks like it's charging important figures, mainly from the former secret political police, with "voluntary murder", including it's former director and other high level employees.

Stunning building!! If they had prisons like that in the UK then I would happily mug a granny of two to get myself booked in. Only kidding!! One thing for sure, if the prison was in the UK then it would be covered in graffiti and vandalised beyond repair.
