I walked past that bridge at Osney most days since the bus can't get through Botkey 😂😂 Have seen some big Chub right by the footbridge. Also at non flooded times have seen a lot of fish on the Botley side of the road bridge over the river

Exactly! They also mow down all the wild flower verges , spray chemicals for invasive plants whilst breeding birds are nesting, cutting down nests ect . Honestly its clearly obvious that they ain't interested in the environment just money. N fools lap it up .

Toilet roll on lines in the river Ouse. Plastics polluting everything. Then what are they going to do with these great batteries on cars when they are scrap? - There will be an 'electric car scrap tax'.

Funny how they weren't in the state they are now 10 years ago. We complained they were too clean, especially the river Trent. Walked a stretch in Nottingham it stank and the sewage plants were miles up stream. Disgusting and disgraceful in this day and age. Now the waste companies are putting up water rates too, for what?

Slightly downstream from the spot you were at with the old fella in the city centre is great for large chub. Likewise where you caught the big perch, large chub towards the marina as the water comes over the small weir.

@ perch up to around 2lb and chub up to 3-4lb although this was a year or so ago fishing around oxford has been rubbish lately

If you ever get chance. Visit knaresborough lido. You will have to speak with owners to fish as it’s residents of the caravan park now. But above the weir they have slow moving stretches with chub trout and roach etc. between the 2 weirs the actual lido is full of big trout that love mags and spinners. Then below the weir chub trout dace grayling and this is where the barvel start to show Becomes a private club further down but I can try pull strings for you to fish it for some very hard to catch nidd barbel. Standard setup you would use on a river needs to be stepped up even for the smallest of fish.

I remember when i was younger we moved and the school i went to there they had a outside swimming pool like this and people got made to swim in it no matter how cold it was even in the winter, if you refused to go in they would throw you in, lucky for me my parents pulled me out of that school and i went to another school after they found out about it, loads of parents would complain and go to the council about it but still took over 5 years for them to shut it down.

@ yep, good perch in the summer when the river season opens. I’ve had a few perch out of there on spinners and chatterbaits. Had a jack pike just where it spills over before you even get to the bridge.

On that bridge next to the thames free lining a bunch of worms is deadly and about 200 yards down is a brilliant shallow run let me know of you wanna be shown any spots in that area
