Hey guys, so this is a different video but I wanted to put this video up in memory of this prison. It has been open for many years and they've finally decided to demolish it for housing. Just watching it back makes me upset because of all the memories that was held there. For any of you that want to know what cell Reggie was housed in, It was number 108. I forgot to edit in me saying it was his cell. Don't believe me? Here's proof - www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/...

Surprised to find that almost all of the comments on here are from ex cons. I was an officer at HMP Blundeston from 1996 - 2011, and they were the best years of my working life. The camaraderie between the staff was like nothing I’ve experienced anywhere else, and it really did make it a great place to work. Working in a Prison is NOTHING like serving a sentence in a Prison, despite some prisoners belief that it was. We got to go home at the end of the day after all. I met many truly dangerous, evil people at Blundeston, but I think it’s only right to point out that I also met many more who were pleasant, respectful and friendly. As Blundeston was an ‘overflow’ Prison for the London area, we had prisoners from quite literally all over the world, some of whom had been caught bringing drugs into any one of the major London airports. There are good and bad in every race, religion and society, and I’m a firm believer that sometimes good people do bad things, often forced into committing crimes as an absolute last resort. Finally I would like to point out that, regardless of what the media reports, being in Prison is NOT like a hotel. The prisoners have lost their liberty, the food is ok but definitely not great, and the living conditions are pretty bad. I spent the last few years of my career working on the Therapeutic Community, helping a small number of prisoners look at how and why they ended up in prison, and what they needed to change to ensure they didn’t return. It was without doubt the most rewarding time I spent in HMPS, and if any of you have any questions about HMP Blundeston, I’d be happy to try to answer them for you.

Just because we leave prison… Doesn’t necessarily mean prison leaves us. The fact that I instantly recognised the pictures of J-Wing… And could also easily remember and identify my old cell as well as others. Granted that staff didn’t serve time and got to go home at the end of the shift unlike prisoners. But on the flipside when I was released from prison… Sitting in my office in Bank, London in 2012 I became aware of the prison being closed down, I began to search for ex Staff for Blundesten … Finding many out of jobs and looking for work. For us ex convicts it just serves as a reminder that the line between good and bad is very thin… And that even though prison is a part of us, it doesn’t have to dictate your future. Still… Would still love to know what in particular got the prison shutdown? I heard rumours but never saw anything confirmed?

Fuck off Screw, try telling it from behind the door side. Food is shite always has been. You dont get enough. Go to bed starving, lose weight unless you can buy with private cash. Drugs everywhere, people selling anything for a few smokes even their chicken leg on a Sunday. The cleaners are stuck so far up the officer asses its unreal. Tell them about the suicides in the prisons late 80s before the days of toilets in cells and enhanced, tvs in cells, slop out, cockroaches, the stink down whole landing, people slashing up in cells, blood everywhere, crying all night, then found hung in the morning. People banging on doors screaming let me out etc when jail was jail!!. Tell them the truth! 3 in a cell all using same bowl to wash in,Then the banging on doors when the jails local football team scored on a tiny AM radio wired upto a PP9 only of course.

She was determined to bail me i said no. Kept refusing bail . Got few months lie down.and.walk out at court for time served when sentancing day came. Makes perfect sense.to me. Think about ones family if you are heading back to the big house as they all do time too, long day long bus journeys just to visit, kids asking when daddies coming home and what do you tell them etc its no good. i was there untill 2011 i was shipped out to hmp wayland. while i was there at blundeston i was on c wing but none of the cells hat toilets only h wing which was induction the newer wing that was shown was for lifers i think. there was one more wing with toilets but it was 4 ment to a cell. on my wing you either pressed the bell and they opened the cell door elecronically then you had 8 minutes to do your buisiness and return to your cell. you could wait hours as the whole wing would press theur bell to be let out and only one inmate was permitted to be let out at any one time so you had a bucket to go toilet in. alot of people would piss in a bottle and throw it out the window. summer time you had to keep your window shut cos the piss thrown out would stink. that corridoor whith the library we called it bond street cos its where all deals was done. if you needed anything illigal you went to bond street. 12 yrs 9mths i wasted in hm prisons my last sentence. this lockdown lark due to covid isnt hard. i have internet. sky plus. unlimeted access to a phone. can go to the shop eat well and have a leg over. when i start to feel bored i remind myself of the 12 yrs 9mths proper lockdown i did

Just luke@ it looks more like an open jail. The first thing a noticed was how small the wings were, like an old borstal. And built in 1963 i wouldnt be suprised if thats what it used to be. It does not look anything like a maximium security jail. And looks easy to escape from if you really wanted to. Maybe not easy but it could be done without to much preperation! Some jails arnt meant to be hard, but some screws dont see it like that. Thats why theres always a few that bully cons.

Its the smallest jail i have ever seen. Nearly every room was called a wing? The english system is like that. A think it was just the visiting room that wasnt a wing lol it was built a bit strange. There wings only held 50 cons. In scotland and most other big old english jails theres at least 200 cons in a wing. And if there doubled up its 400. Barlinnie in glasgow is huge and is holding at least 1650 cons, but was built to hold 950. So there is about 700 to much. Most jails dont even hold 700 never mind 1650. And its to get worse

When's it gonna stop this Kray thing? You Brits love a villian that's ok! Except they weren't villians. Never pulled a top shelf job cut and killed to keep folk in fear. Snappy dresser's sure. If they grew up in Ireland there life would have been very different in the sixties in Ireland it took more than a sharp suit to impress.

Norbert Albertz it was Ritchie Klay and he had 2 brothers (Charlie and Ralphie) who were also in this very jail together back in 1969 when they done the double murders of Terry 'Wears a Cap' Kipling and Jack 'The Twat' McVitie in 1973. They was from Bethnal Wood estate in Roehampton in London E1. (West London). Their mum and dad were Annie 'CutYerHeadOff' Kayl (neé Frobisher) and Alby Boy 'GoodFella' Kaly. My mother's primary school teacher, well her old milkman, he knew the whole family and he ain't got nothing bad to say about em. As long as you stayed out of their way and you also had to put £2 in old money (40'- shillings in old pence approximately) into their Auntie Shirley 'ShirleyGirl' Hedges GPO Post Office Savings account at the post office on Osborne Street off Whitechapel High Street, every Friday.
