Exploring an Uninhabited Island in Tokyo | Sarushima Island Travel Vlog

In today's video, we explore the only natural island inside Tokyo Bay. Sarushima (aka Monkey Island), has no monkeys but is nevertheless a natural paradise without human influence. This Japanese island has a rich history as a military defense base since before Meiji-era times. Remains of this can still be seen on the island with many red brick walls and tunnels left over.
In Summer, Sarushima becomes a popular day trip spot for people looking to swim and BBQ near Tokyo. It can be reached with a short, 10 minute ferry ride from Yokosuka bay. Follow along as we explore this beautiful natural island!

Thanks Adam and Juri. I have long been fascinated by the Kurofune, Matthew Perry 's Black Ships steaming into Tokyo Bay on 8/7/1853, an event that completely changed not only Japan's history but the whole world's, and those fortifications were built as a direct consequence of that, so I'd love to check them out (Kurihama Beach and Yokohama Port Opening Square also have green flags on my G-map for the very same reason) 🙏

Sorry for the late reply George, Juri and I were traveling through Tohoku and Hokkaido the past days and I wasn't checking youtube at the time! There's definitely a lot of interesting places to see when it comes to Perry's arrival in Japan but also the western influence that followed in the decades after that :) Thank you for always taking your time to watch my videos and also write out thoughtful comments, I really do appreciate it very much!

Thanks Adam, hope you guys had a good time. (Spring is here. I mean there 😏) Yes, in this times we've become addicted to the feeling of being connected, you need to have the strength to be able to cut (or at least throttle) the cord if you want reap the benefits of taking a break. RE watching your videos, I watch them because I enjoy them. I'm a (let's be honest, p@7§Ɛ7¡c) japanophile that misses both 日本's natural and built environments, you're a guy with a pretty good eye and a camera keen on getting out there and record things that speak to your artistic sensibility (and shared love of nature I presume), and since as I said I've quite enjoyed the majority of content you've posted since you arrived there, I'm always looking forward to the next vlog you're ready to share. As for commenting, I apologize for my "mental diarrheas", but if it was me showing my work online I would want to know a bit more about what people thought about it other than "sugoi!" or "never coming back here again" (In any case, we all have a vague idea about how the KZbin algorithms works wr to interactions)(Here we go, I've done it again 🙇‍♂️) 😊
