Tell you what, Beau, this is one amazing adventure you've been taking us on. I got a little misty eyed during this one. This scenery reminded me of landscapes familiar to me during my early childhood when my grandparents & parents were still living. The latter were oh so young, vibrant, full of life & mirth back then! And yet; So unlike the people my children came to know in their last years... I've lived so much of my life since then here on the dark clay soil of the Red River Valley in Minnesota with nary a mountain or stone to behold. Naught but flat farmland as far as the eye can see; Marred only by the occasional windbreak of trees round old farmhouses & along the many silted rivers or creeks that drain into the muddy Red. How I've longed to see these craggy, cracked, stones in all their glory towering above me once more with these old eyes! Nostalgia? Regret? Sentimentality? I don't believe there's a word for the feeling I'm experiencing. Perhaps this is what it feels like when one reaches the age when they've outlived their life & haven't the means to truly live much beyond? Remarkable how such beautiful scenery can evoke such strong emotions. Simply magnificent. Thank you once again for sharing this adventure with us.

@@athelwulfgalland; I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post. You've described my feelings and emotions to a "T". Perhaps my feelings come about because of loneliness. I lost my father on 19 November 2021, the same day I learned I had COVID and then, on 2 December, I lost my sister 18 months older than I. I really don't know how to describe my feelings but, one thing I do know, all I have to do is watch one of Beau's excellent videos and I begin to feel better. I love the SoCal and Arizona Deserts. Walked many a mile out there because, there was always something interesting to see. Now at 76 years old, I doubt I'll ever get to visit those beautiful places again. May God Bless you.
@athelwulfgalland2 жыл бұрын
@@harrisonmantooth3647 Thank you for your kind words. The emotions are really difficult to explain with words. I'm not certain if it's the result of an inadequacy in the language or in my own understanding of emotion added to a lack of vocabulary. Perhaps it is loneliness? I'm certainly not alone, I've two young adults still under my care as well as my dear wife of 25 years. Though it's often said that a person doesn't need to be alone to feel lonely. The imagery in this particular video touched upon the memories of my early life though when there were far more people that were dear to me still in this world. Unlike yourself, and how I envy you for it, I wasn't permitted the chance to explore such wondrous landscapes. I could only see them from the window of the family car, in the distance from my grandparent's home or some tourist trap with carefully fenced areas with wide leveled paths with my hand firmly held at all times. Lord knows I would have bolted! Many a tale was told to me by my father about his own adventures in the SoCal desert & Sierra Nevadas. Indian burial sites, relics of bygone eras, rich fossil beds embedded in sandstone hundreds of feet up mountainsides & derelict abandoned buildings without another soul for miles. Just think to yourself of how that would spark the imagination of a five or six year old? I clearly remember being told; "When you're older, when you're older." Alas no matter how old I've gotten it's never been enough to make it come to pass. My footsteps will never carry me to trek upon the same adventures he related to me those many years ago. One by one my grandparents were lost from the mid-90s to the mid-00s. Then on the morning of September 12th, 2013 I found my mother stiff & cold to the touch on her living room sofa. For all the world she looked as though she were still simply sleeping if not for those attributes. My father lingered for six long, dreadful, years without hope or ambition left in him; A husk of the man I grew up to admire. All along he wished to be back at my mother's side; To the extent of asking for a handgun on several occasions to expedite the matter. He passed December 21st of 2019. I was at his side less than eight hours before he breathed his last. By then he'd been robbed of the use of his legs, his left arm, much of his eyesight, most cognitive reasoning & dignity. He had a litany of health conditions which he struggled with for better than twenty years before my mother even massed. Your wounds are far fresher than those I've nursed over these years. No doubt you're still reeling from the effects of COVID & yet having to see off two loved ones in such short order at the same time. You're a far stronger man than I for if so much misfortune came over me in such short order I'm not sure how I would manage.

In Arizona, you must avoid slow moving or stagnant waters... amoebas... horrible death. Best to only use water from fast moving streams. And speaking of ants... folks told me in Arizona it is worth looking around those very large ant hills/home... you'll often find things of value there.

Surely, there's not anybody expecting Chigg to actually 'SHOW' the gold he finds!? The most he will admit to might be a tiny fleck or micro nugget. First rule of prospecting: Show a 'little', but never a 'lot'. Also, only admit to what you want taken from you.
