First of all, that drone footage was just beautiful! And it was just so special to see your lovely family watching the ocean. Thank you. Also, you asked about sleeping porches. They are pretty common in older homes in the north east where they have high humidity and it gets really hot especially at night. Generally they are screened in porches on a second or third floor and people would take their mattresses out of those porches on hot summer nights.

Sleeping porches were used in the days before air-conditioning. They were outside porch areas that would catch the breeze on hot nights. Beds were out there and families slept out there on summer nights. They would have to be screened for mosquitos or the bed would need a mosquito net draped over it.

That doughnut place is such a wonderful idea, and that' is NOT a bad price at ALL! Never had a brookie, but it sure sounds, and looks, good. Loved seeing Jackson chasing that cute little doggie around. Made me remember him and Brother Bandit (I'm sure you too). It is built in areas where it gets very hot even during the night so people sleep out there to try to take advantage of any breezes that might go by. We had one on our beach house in Maine and all of the kids in the family slept out there.

I've vacationed several times on Anna Maria. It's a really nice family area, with a beautiful beach. It looks like you were across the street from the Silver Sands Resort. The Sandbar is a great restaurant. I've never seen waves like that on the bayside.

Donuts for breakfast!!!!! And why not! They looked delicious! Lovely Vlog, the drone footage seeing you on the beach together was so lovely, you could just see how natural and loving you all are and that feeling of togetherness! Food looked delicious too! The old jail was so funny, air conditioned (no doors, roof or windows, and no one been there in years lol! Looks like there is a lot to see and do other than the beach! When we visited Florida last year, we stayed in a private rental villa instead of a hotel, we preferred it as it provides so much more space, the pool looks amazing! The sunsets do look amazing and Jackson looked so happy crawling on the beach! Love Ceri x

Sleeping porches...if you were lucky your house had this screened porch to sleep on. Often off an upstairs room to catch evening breezes. With no a.c. in the south you hoped to sleep with a temp below the inferno inside!! My granny's house had one...cricket serenades...

I may be COMPLETELY wrong because I'm just guessing as a Canadian- but I believe a sleeping porch is an enclosed porch area suitable for sleeping/taking a nap when the weather is nice (the enclosed part keeps out any insects, animals, etc allowing you to sleep safely opposed to a regular porch)

It works for hardy varieties (like romaine, escarole, endive, etc). You can get the grill flavor in a salad without adding grilled meats. Don't try it with boston or iceberg!

My dad grew up in Florida during the 30's and 40's. He didn't have air conditioning and slept during the hotter months on the sleeping porch. It was a screened in balcony to hopefully catch some breeze and keep the bugs off.

The jail Was used up until 1940 until a fire burned the wooden parts of the jail. What remains of it can be found on the property today, with various slogans painted on it. It is considered to be one of the “must see” sites on Anna Maria Island and was even featured in Ripley’s “Believe it or Not!”.
