hi, just one small big thing to try to help you with the difficulties that you are having in Portugal. It seems to me that you are trying to make things happen through the phone, that doesn t work in Portugal, always go personally everywhere to deal with every issue, face to face. yes it means you have to spend an entire afternoon unfortunately traveling around just to solve small issues, but you ll solve them. In Portugal use the phone only if you re just trying to gather information or order pizza 😀

That small island at 10:00 is Ilhéu de Vila Franca do Campo (in portuguese, "ilhéu" is more or less equivalent to "isle", a small island, whereas "ilha" is equivalent to "island"). During the summer there are regular boats to that isle and you can actually spend a great day there, swimming in the central bay, snorkeling and relaxing.

Hi guys! My name is Nina and I am from little country in the heart of Europe, Slovakia. I am not going to lie, I am not your fan since you started your channel. I have found you recently thanks to this video named "exploring beautiful Azores". I want to tell you that this place, this island is a big dream destination to me and thanks to you I could get to know Azores better. I have really enjoyed your beautiful scenes captured on your camera. It was breathtaking how incredibly magical this place is. Also I want to thank you for your speeches and information you gave to your subscribers. It was as if we moved with you to the Azores for a little while. Traveling to this island is one of my biggest dreams. I hope it will come true one day. May I ask, how many days did you spend there? I believe that the weather there is very changeable, but I wonder if you also experienced sunny day. What range was the daily temperature? Thank you for your response. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your next travel video. Have a good time. Love, Nina. ❤️

You two are so sweet to go to Nordeste for the postcard! OMG it looked ominous and yet so beautiful when you first flew the drone overhead and the sky was dark... and you couldn’t really see where the ocean meets the sky! Everywhere is stunning! The lush green against the red-coloured soil is outstanding. Love the reverse waterfall effect. The drone shots are incredible! (LOL popping Simon Cowell in after Joen sang 🤣). Cows just strolling along the road. You are right, it does look like a giant botanical garden! Great capture of the island! Very cool place with the ‘puddles’ of fire. I wonder if it smells like sulphur (or rotten eggs). Boiling water in nature... I wouldn’t dare try to step in that! Great vlog guys 👋🏻😘. Obrigada ~
@joenandamalie5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jen! That's the lengths we are willing to go for our Patrons 😅! Honestly this video we just took the car with any particular goal in mind. We just wanted to see the island from different angles. And as it turns out Sao Miguel IS pretty from all angles. The smell from the geysers actually were sulphur, so it was kind of like rotten eggs. Amalie wasn't a fan, but I didn't mind. It was a nice change of pace in my opinion 😂! The funny thing about the geysers is that around noon the locals actually use them for cooking food. We didn't know this until we got back home, but that would have been interesting to see. :)

It's not a problem to breathe that air in Furnas. During the summer, the locals let corn to boil there in big cloth bags, in those "furnas" where the water is boiling. And that gives the corn a very special flavor.

@@joenandamalie You really should return during the summer. Yes, there's plenty of tourists but I think they can accommodate two more. :-) There are some activities that you can only truly appreciate during the summer. I mentioned already two, but here's another really cool one - go to Praia da Ferraria, in the westernmost tip, to a rocky beach where there's a very small inlet from the sea into the rock, like 20m or so, and there are hot springs from the rock, under the ocean water, which means that in that inlet, you can actually have a hot and cold bath. Hot water (really hot!) pours from the rock and meets the cold water from the sea. In certain areas it's 40 celsius, in other areas it's 15, where they mix you can have your torso hot and the legs cold. And all of this in 20 meters. :-) Really, really fun. You must be careful to choose the right tide. You can't go there when the tide is too low, or you'll cook. :-) The best time is 30m or 1h after low tide, then you'll have around 2h or so of fun.

This isn't true Azoreans have had a huge impact on the dairy industry in California but very few are from families from Sao Miguel the bulk are from the islands in the following order Terceira, Sao Jorge, Pico, Faial, Flores then Sao Miguel(about 3% of Azoreans in California in the Dairy industry of from families from Sao Miguel). There are various sources to support this as factual. Probably 90% of those from Sao Miguel settled on the east coast of the USA and are concentrated in Fall River, New Bedford Massachusetts and surrounding areas and Toronto Canada. Very few went to California.

This whole thing about claiming an Azorean identity is a new thing in the times of my parents and grandparents they claimed only their island and claimed to be Portuguese. It was only when they went the mainland that some would call them Azoreans. Mainlanders are fairly ignorant of the diversity of the accents etc. of the island and think that all Azoreans talk like people from Sao Miguel anyway. My point is this regional thing isn't embraced by everyone. There's boat you can take to the island. I think it costs about 6€ and you can actually go swimming when the weather is good. I did it last year, it's amazing!

Amazing, you're in Saint Michael ( Sao Miguel)" the Archangel island" i call it. Yes indeed, tasty "original nature cow", no artificial cows there. Phenomenal job, you work naturally together really well.

I’m first generation Canadian, both parents from here. I visited 2 years ago for the first time, footage doesn’t even compare, your senses and eyeballs see like every colour shade and texture you can imagine. Driving around is awesome constant elevation changes, if you drive down odd roads you can find some incredible hidden places. Best part is traffic jams don’t exist really unless it’s a festival in town but they just detour you. Cows are the only traffic jams, people just stop turn car off and wait till the 1000 cows cross the road. It’s amazing to witness. Lol your girl is funny, love the duvet wafting joke, sulphur is what your smelling that same smell from hardboiled eggs when you peel them. Not gunna kill you. Happy farting in bed everyone

January is probably the worst time to visit Azores. However, if you are lucky with the weather, Sete Cidades, Furnas, Mosteiros, Ribeira Grande, Lagoa, Ponta Delgada, Nordeste, Lagoa do Fogo are a few great places to visit. If you want to eat well, try Mareserra restaurant near Ponta Delgada. For drinks, not sure if Tropical Neptune is open in January, but this the cosiest bar in town. Have fun and enjoy Azores!!!
@joenandamalie5 жыл бұрын
Well, the good part is that you don’t have hordes of tourists. I’d rather have the nature for myself than good weather a busloads of people 😅! Thanks for the recommendations!
