Excellent video! This is the best Big Bend/ADV riding video I’ve seen yet (and I’ve seen a lot). Keep’em coming.

Wow. Thanks! And we seriously weren't even trying. I was so focused on improving my skills, I just threw the go pro on my helmet and forgot about it. Unfortunately, I didn't catch my THREE falls on Glenn Springs. That would have made for a more interesting film. LOL. Next time!

We did! It was fun to push myself. I'm just glad I didn't break anything.

I just checked out your other video where you did the water crossing (and graciously fell). Was that the infamous James River crossing?

Ha! yes! That was the James River. I'd like to say I was as gracious on Glenn Springs at Big Bend. There's a reason I left the sound out. Too many expletives said under the breath. LOL!

Big Bend can be really good in January & February but be prepared for changing weather. Daytime temps can be in the 70's but generally in the mid to lower 60's. The weather is generally mild but it can get cold at night, in the mid to upper 30's, if you;re camping. Camping near the river is always colder than camping at a higher elevation, strange but the valleys get colder. Our favorite times to go are spring and fall but winter can be really nice as well.

@SteveRawls-e5v do you have to go through many checkpoints? Do you need valid passport?

@@highcountryadv9828 Checkpoints operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection are located on all north/south highways leading from the Big Bend area, and are staffed at all times. I think there's only one on Hwy. 385 from Marathon and one on Highway 118 South from Alpine to Study Butte/Terlingua. Each vehicle traveling north is stopped at one of these checkpoints for a visual inspection and brief questions by a Border Patrol agent. They don't usually mess with motorcyclists much but you're still required to stop. It takes approximately 2h 23m to drive 100.1 miles from Alpine to Big Bend National Park. It's a 40 minute drive from Marathon to the park entrance. If you're not camping in the park then your best bet is probably staying in Terlingua.

There are hotels/motels, restaurants, gas stations, etc. You do not need a passport to get into the park but there's a park entrance fee and camping fees.
