This was my neighborhood back in the late 70s when I came to Canada, went to Beverly Glen P.S. for a few years. Learned to drive in the parking lot and my Mom's first job in Canada was at Towers, Jewelry and Records Dpt. Best fries and gravy at Burger Palace.

Thanks johnny I enjoyed this tour of Bridlewood Mall. I lived in the area for 38 years before moving away six years ago. The old grave headstones and a little parkette are outside the upper foodcourt.

My family and I use to live at 2050 Bridletown Circle from late 1978 to mid 1981. It was a great hangout after school, L’Amoreaux C.I. There used to be a Towers at the north end. A great A&A record store. I don’t if Metro (formerly Dominion) is still there at the south end.

The location of the new Library was once a supermarket--Price Chopper which was closed during the Covid-19.
@puffysnow8504
@puffysnow8504 3 ай бұрын
That's kinda weird they kept the price chopper name when most all other locations were rebranded as freshco almost 10 or so years ago. If it was a price choppers and it closed it may of been more then covid 19 since they had not rebranded it as a freshco

I spent a lot of time in that mall in the 90s. My grandparents lived in those condos at the beginning of the video for over 30 years until they passed away last year. I remember going to the K-Mart with my grandmother when I was a little kid.

The mall is on the diagonal southwest corner to the High school, right across the street. TMI - Rush did a sound check/dress rehearsal at Pleasant View Junior High School back in '73. ELO played in '73 and '74.

Great video. Glad to see Bridlewood mall is still doing well. I spent many weekends here in the 90s and early 00s. Loved Burger Palace, Jumbo Video (free popcorn) & the 35 cent pop machine that was in the Price Chopper. They used to also have mini trading card pop ups every now and then where I would buy X-Men cards lol. Also glad to see Rizvi electronics still there!

There used to be Zellers at the mall until the early 2010's but the space turned into Target in 2014 or something, but the new store eventually was shut down only one and a half years later. I used to shop at Zellers in the early 2000s. Like some other subscriber said, it has become sort of a local community centre with ethnic store, and I don't mind it.

Nice video but like most people they miss the fact they built the mall around a historical cemetery. It’s easy to miss but definitely a strange site when you see it because people walk in it without knowing. It’s just north on the side that’s facing warden.

I always look forward to you videos. Thanks for another great one Johnny. Watching your mall videos though I've noticed a small difference between your malls in Canada (or at least the one you've been to) and ours in Australia. Most of our malls, particularly the more suburban ones like this, would have rides or a play area for kids somewhere in the mall. Not talking about play centres because I notice that this mall is about to open one of those - but most of our malls have little rides or a small area in between the two rows of stores with some soft flooring and climbing equipment etc for children to play for free. Probably nothing you'd notice if you don't have kids, but since I have a 6 year old it's something I noticed. Not a big thing, just a small difference.

development plans were cancelled I wanna say around 2016? it's been a while now actually. not sure why, but perhaps it was financial or lack of interest? in any case the development plans they had for this mall seemed to have leaked over to Woodside square just 10 minutes east of this mall (condos, mall redevelopment) some other fun facts: the entrance where you entered the mall used to be Zellers in the 90s. the mall entrance to Zellers used to be around under the 2nd floor food court. Zellers then moved to the old K-Mart space on the 2nd floor which is now the Asian grocery store (I wanna say in the late 90s/2000) a price chopper used to occupy the future library/social service office, so historically there was always 2 grocery stores in the mall. no one knows why but both were well supported and busy probably because they catered to 2 types of clientele (bargain vs upscale)
