Exploring Butedale, British Columbia on our Inside Passage Cruise

Great side trip and history of this super cool place to visit when cruising the Inside Passage! We had a great pot-luck on the dock, hiked up to the lake, and did some fun video work and photographs. This place is sort of far from everywhere, but definitely worth the stop.
Instructor Mike, always finds himself cruising the Inside Passage during the summer. Anywhere from Seattle to S.E. Alaska is an amazing cruising experience and one of my favorite places to be. The Long-Range Motor-Sailor, "Black Pearl" is a perfect platform for this type of cruising. More videos to follow, like us, & Subscribe.

I believe that the method used to create the electrical energy is called the Pelton wheel or Pelton Turbine which is an impulse-type water turbine invented by American inventor Lester Allan Pelton in the 1870s. The Pelton wheel extracts energy from the impulse of moving water, as opposed to water's dead weight like the traditional overshot water wheel. I think the old Trinity mine near Lake Chelan still has a working Pelton Turbine. Enjoy the rest of your Inland Passage!

We tried to stop there in 2014 but our boat was 70' and too big to moor at that old log dock. Cory i believe came down with his dog and said hello.

New docks are much better - Cory and his dog are no longer staying there, a bummer, he was really nice. Used to ask for request northbound and then drop off supplies southbound.
