I have a feeling that if O.O and Tank were released by a debut group from a not-too-popular entertainment company, those songs would have flopped really hard. Since NMIXX is from JYPE, one of the Big 3, it was easier for them to get away with it and people will try their hardest to like the songs. I still remember that the group got tons of pre-orders even though JYPE hadn't reveal the members AND the group name yet. I'm also not saying that NMIXX isn't talented, they're SUPER talented and I adore Lily M. Even though the billion streams wasn't accurate, at one point in 2017, Strip That Down actually was the highest selling solo single for a 1D member. I know it probably isn't now but Liam was talking about how big an impact the song had right out of the gate, so then he had to refocus onto trying to top that. I don't know why he said he wasn't looking for a solo career though because he was one of the first in the studio post hiatus, even posting teasers on IG of his work. His biggest mistake was trying to move into hip hop. Also when he said he was placed at the front of the band at first, that was true. He's mentioned it many times over the years. He was the only one who had experience with live performance so the XF crew just put him at the front while the others got used to performing.

I think Liam's problem is he has no idea who he is and is too insecure and too desperate for relevancy and popularity to be vulnerable and explore who he is and take risks. Instead he is just musically flailing around throwing trends at a wall and hoping it works. The other members of 1D on the other hand also had to find who they were, but let themselves be vulnerable and take risks, and as a result people loved it and related to it. Louis is doing completely different kinds of music, but his fans adore him for his relatable and heartfelt lyrics, and non-fans like me respect him for it. I'm a fan of BTS, and when they announced they were going on a break to do solo music and complete their military service, they spoke about how the industry moves so fast you loose sight of who you are and prevented them for finding who they had grown into over the years. Now they are exploring different sides of themselves in their solo music with the same vulnerability and courage they have always shown in their group music. I think Zayn, Harry, Louis and Niall have all also gone through that process, being vulnerable, finding who they are and accepting themselves and their music for who and what it is rather that trying to chase trends and what people expect. I don't think Liam has, I think his insecurities are greater than his courage, and I hope that changes for him.

I expected a straightforward essay but this was filled with so many little references it was 100 times better. Like even referencing Lauren from Fifth Harmony, Glee, Team10, Usher in that random video- the work this probably took is insane! Loved it!

Whenever Casey talks about celebrities it kinda goes over my head, but I'm still about it. I had never heard of Matthew Morrison until she made that video but now when she brings up "Mr. Schue energy" in comparison to a viral video I hadn't seen before of a person I've only heard of in passing dancing in a weird way, I'm just like "omg yes!" Love when she references something from her previous videos cuz then I feel like I'm in the loop :) It's almost like a Casey Aonso cinematic universe with reoccurring characters like Ratallouis and Jason Derulo

U are so right Demi’s management is kind of……throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks 😭😭😭😭 they have such a pretty soulful voice smh they’ve been teasing a rock punk emo era (only bc it’s trendy again) but I think they should move to rnb because it would be so much better with their voice

THIS!! It feels like they are constantly changing trends and aesthetics- it feels inauthentic? Like DWTD was chasing kacey musgraves vibes. Lol Demi has always been a metal fan and her 1st album were pop/rock, it's not only because it's trendt it's simply because that's what she loves lmao. She has never been authentic when doing her pop or whatever styles and it shows. Holy fuck was her best, just not promoted properly

It's like we all jump on the same adhd thought train and giggle at cringe, and in doing so we become masters of it. It's like I'm immune to cringe now through being a Casey Aonso viewer, or rather, I embrace the parts of me that are cringe. That 5 second clip of Demi's song is just the outro and she follows up laughing saying that she doesn't currently need anyone right now but the the thought is nice. It's tongue in cheek and unserious. She knows it's a silly song. I will forever defend Dancing with the Devil era because it's her best album to date imo. She sang her heart out and some of those tracks expressed how she was at her most vulnerable.
