No love for Scathach!? You could have at least said her name! Or the fact that while he was over there he defeated Aife, got her Aife pregnant, and later kills his own son only to discover this fact as his son dies in his arms. I always saw that particular part similar to Arthur and Mordred.

For how scattered Irish mythology is, it's amazing we have enough fragments to tell these stories. Celtic mythology is quickly dying, unless we find a hidden library of lore it's up to us to preserve & educate people and their history

@@billnicks2362 this is old but... A Geas does have a taboo component, Typically when under a Geas you are bound by a rule. It may be a social or financial rule. Say you can not ever deny a fellow mans plea for help, no matter the cost to yourself. If you break a Geas (and not all of them can be broken since their is a "magical" component as well) then you enter a state of "Taboo" where you are shunned by all. (the punishment part has a physical part in that it causes say boils all over your body, or you turn red, or your hair becomes white. What ever it is it marks your breaking of the Geas and fall into a taboo state)

I was extremely pleased that American Gods included the Tuatha de Danann. That's a pretty popular show and just having the Irish pantheon make their appearance and be a part of it, though not a HUGE part, is just the sort of exposure this mythology needs to start gaining popularity. I swear if someone would just make a full-on, big-budget, FX-laden, balls-to-the-walls Cú Chulainn and/or Fionn Mac Cumhaill movie, filled with magic and monsters and all of that good shit, Thor would have some reason competition in the game of being a popular mythological deity.

I heard of Cú Chulainn from Fate/Stay Night. He was one of the Heroic Spirits summoned in the Holy Grail wars. 7 Heroic Spirits in total. Thus, there is 7 classes. Saber, Lancer, Archer, Assassin, Rider, Berserker, and Caster. Cú Chulainn was summoned as Lancer class.
@mr.tiddles556
@mr.tiddles556 Жыл бұрын
Why the hell is he not a berserker class?
@pyrosianheir
@pyrosianheir Жыл бұрын
@@mr.tiddles556 Because the identity of a servant can be called in multiple variations if they fit more than one role. He was also a highly skilled spearman, so he was summoned as a Lancer for that particular Grail War iteration, probably by using the Gae Bolg as the catalyst for calling him. In the phone game Fate/Grand Order, he's summonable in three variants that I'm aware of: Lancer, Caster (presumably under the assumption that he learned magic from Scathach), and Berserker. Of those, I'm pretty sure only the Berserker variant is 5* rank, with Lancer being 4* and Caster being 3*. Also, for that particular grail war, the Berserker slot was filled by Heracles who doesn't really have another good class to slot him into.

The epic nature of these tales and the beautiful, psychedelic quality of the art that surrounds these myths lends itself fully to the sorts of storytelling we have come to expect from Thor and Norse myths, both in sequential art form and on the big screen. I wholeheartedly agree that the legends of the Tuatha dé Danann are ripe for adaptation/incorporation into the myths of the modern age, so to speak. Long overdue for a film series, I say.

Wow, really interesting. I can't not see his name as a variant of the Mayan Kulkukan. The mythos behind both is also intriguingly similar too. And with the original name being Satan-ta, it just gets better. Son of Lugh, that makes sense too. Lugh is kinda like Hurracan. Zeus. Jupiter. The hero of the gods during the great war with the Fomorian Titans. Kinda like Jehova defeating Leviathan in the Bible. And Kulkukan is mythologically like the son of that god. Bacchus. Osiris. Quetzacoatl. Tammuz. Baldr. Even Jesus.

Because Cap will certainly be among that tier in a century even if most don't consider him to be now. Mythology is just crazy stories, possibly a dash of religious mumbo jumbo, and then left to grow for centuries if all those that know about it aren't destroyed.
