Exploring Chukai Terengganu 🇲🇾 Malaysia

Morning guys. I believe you guys are traveling up north along the East Coast (Pantai Timur) of Peninsula Malaysia. Something to take note: Trengganu and Kelantan states will be having their state elections on 12 Aug 2023. You’ll probably see alot more political parties’ flag, banner, pennon, etc (like the green flag with white round, or the blue flag with the Dacing-a balancing scale) being put up at various places. Malaysia has 2 elections, generally- a General Election and State Elections. These elections are separate and independent but could be held at the same time (for convenience). This time round, 5 States are holding their State elections in Aug2023, not coinciding with the General Election (which is federal/ national level) and that include Trengganu and Kelantan states. Nothing to be worried about, it’s just the locals going about electing their representatives, and politicians making rounds, who may have convoy following them. Just continue enjoy the good food, and if encounter some random ppl giving speeches especially in the evening, that’s probably politicians on campaign trails

Good morning lovely couple Dan and Anna! RM6.50 for nasi minyak with two pieces of daging and RM4.50 for nasi lemak with ikan goreng, telur mata, anchovies, peanuts, cucumber and sambal are really cheap compared to KL or Selangor prices! And yes there's a state election (not a federal election) in Terengganu and 5 other states. The green and blue flags are political party flags. Have an awesome day ahead!

That roti bakar looks delicious. "Roti bakar" is toasted bread and the filling its not banana its roti with butter and "kaya". Kaya made from coconut milk, eggs and sugar cook till sticky. Sometime we add pandan extract and it will be green

In Terrengganu and Kelantan u can always ask for 'kurang manis' - less sweet for drinks,they are very generous with sugar and condense milk!! Suprise me that coffee guy is good in English...superb!

We love you to explore more on Malay cuisine.......... Terengganu Nasi Dagang is usually more authentic than similar nasi dagang in Kuala Lumpur as its origin were from Terengganu some hundreds or thousands of years ago when locals were once famous and described by historians as the world's great seafarer controlling vast swathe of its marine territory from the south tip of Japan to as far as to Hawaii Island ( former Malay ancestry ) and also down-under to the south including Philippines, Indonesia, Samoa and pacific islands and Polynesia islands (Samoa, Fiji, Tonga ) about an era of the lost civilization and the sunken of Atlantis ..................... U should try the original nasi dagang terengganu.. they said the best one is at Nasi Dagang Atas Tol, try fish,prawn & squid celup tepung ,the original keropok keping & losong (lekor) & dont forget to experience best Island Redang & Kapas ..because u like the old house i suggest both of u to go Terapuri old house that they transform to Resort ( hundreds years old traditional house still mantain in original form without any piece of nail)..

Very good recommendation on Terapuri! A conservation and restoration complex that showcased old traditional Terengganu Malay style houses. There's a fee entrance for about RM25 but you can roam by yourself and explore the beauty of old Malay architectural houses.

Usually, Malaysians use kaya and toast bread, which is poured with butter or margarine. Kaya is a jam made from coconut milk, eggs, pandan leaves, and sugar. This mix is cooked until it caramelises and the jam becomes orange-brown in colour.

25:06 Kemaman or Chukai is not really a tourist spot, contrary to its neighbouring Cherating However theres a fireflies watching spot near the Kemaman Zoo area, some 20km from the town Kemaman is also known for its coffee, owing to the chinese community there While a popular dish called satar is also popular, which can be found in Kuala Kemaman - the fishing village across the river from the town Trivia: Cukai means Taxes

The diffrent of flags that u see are a symbol of parties coz we've an election to choose the state government. The day for Voters to come down choosing the party they like will be held on August 12, 2023.. The state election only involves Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Kedah, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

next week you should go to Kuala Terengganu. There are more interesting places for you to visit.. you must also try the one called "Celup Tepung" it is quite famous (seafood fried with flour)... You will definitely like it..sorry..most people in Terengganu are not good at speaking English..so, when you talk to some people like chickens & ducks...

Nasi minyak usually the rice have diff colors they put coloring.. They have that tomato taste.. Nasi minyak u can eat everyday here.. If there are weddings, nasi minyak would be the choice for food.. Some nasi minyak just have 1 color while a few would have many colors haha.. Daging or ayam masak merah.. Daging gulai would be the favourite for weddings dishes...

At one of fruit stalls you've mistaken cempedak for jackfruit. Their shape are slender and more tubular. They are a lot softer, sweeter and more aromatic. I personally like it more than jackfruit. Normally fried (as fritter) but you can also consume them directly.

Cukai is a small town of Kemaman province of Trengganu. They have the best Daging Dagang. Try either the exotic with Ikan tongkol (Mackerel) or try and ask for daging Itik (duck) curry

STATE, District or Daerah in Malay (County) and Mukim (sub township in a Distict - nearest English meaning). That is how it is manage in Malaysia. Therefore in a State there are multiple Districts and in a District there are multiple Mukims).

I didn't see any bicycles in this remote village here... ?? They mostly have cars. I mean too many cars in a remote village like here...... Not even a single ride a bicycle here... In India or Pakistan or Bangladesh almost everywhere people are using bicycles, rickshaws, and common too to see locals commuting a donkey cart for means of transport and few people drives good cars.......... .............But here cars are so common and plentiful.. It's bizarre in a remote village here in Malaysia people are still having good cars...... The food is interesting and colorful.... We want to see more foods around the village, are they good?
