Man, that looks like rattlesnake country!! I activated St Vrain Mtn W0C/FR-026 a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning. Wanted to beat the dangerous weather so started early and summitted at 10AM. Bands were poor, only made 5 q's on 40M & 20M (cw) combined. Had maybe five 2-meter qso's just before leaving at 11:15. Wondered why I had such a hard time making contacts - when I got home I saw that no one spotted me on the SOTA website. You're absolutely right - spotting is super helpful!!

Thank you for sharing. You need snowshoes when walk on the dry leaves. Very interesting. JP1QEC mot.

What? No Inreach Sat comm unit for spotting? I'm glad I had mine in AZ.

Had it with me, but didn't have the SOTA sms number because I had reset the unit. 😜

How far down into Anza were you? I’m sure 2 meter or 70 cm is few and far between way out. I also have a Garmin Inreach Mini and have played with it some. Looking forward to really trying it out next week in the sgw

I have an old DeLorme model, but it still works. Would love a mini. We were NE of Borrego Springs on W6/SD-214 if you want to look it up in the SOTA database. It's boonie-land surrounded by bigger mountains.
