I want to Japan for the first and only time in 2017. Stayed in Shibuya and found a Tackleberry there. Oddly enough I found a used Lunker Punker G2 there and some Hudds. The US big baits are marked much higher than here obviously. They also like Strike King crankbaits too.

I was in Japan back in 1988 when I was in the Navy. It was still pretty easy to get around. Most of the younger locals loved practicing their English and were always super helpful

Great stuff, I've been to Japan about 12 times over the last 30 years for work. Fortunately, I've seen two big LM caught shore fishing. The last one was on Sakura River near Senba Lake, it was probably about 4.5lbs the morning I flew back to the USA. It was the guys BP at the time, he was so happy. The other one was also also about 4 lbs and I think that was Lake Yamanaka South of Yokohama. I hope to go back to Japan in 2024.

Some of them are definitely way bigger for sure, being in Tokyo though, most places are very tight and small, the stores closer to Biwa get much bigger!

One thing tho is never buy reels at tackle berry. Some guys actually would buy a high end reel and take out the internals and put lower model internals in the body. Especially bait casters.

How cool is that? Having the opportunity to visit tackles shops in Japan. If I were there, probably will get 1 each of the Shimano Jackall Poison Ultima, Glorious and Adrena rod. It's so difficult to buy one even through online. Also a Shimano Antares DC MD XG right hand unit to go with it.

Hey man, I'm going to Tokyo for the first time and was wondering if you had any suggestions for bluegill swimbaits to look out for. I'm from Ontario so bluegill and perch are the main forage. Just dipping my toes into the large category of swimbait fishing. I will be in both Seoul, South Korea and Tokyo, Japan.
