I wonder about the climate and latitude. It looks a bit like there is more reading where it is colder and darker, and moves to less interest in reading as the climate becomes warmer and brighter, given to more outdoor activities. Europe may parallel North America, in that respect. Thoughts?

Interesting! We have a library in our little village and out on the street there is also a little “lending” cabinet for both books and puzzles! These little lending cabinets have popped up in all kinds of little villages around the area. I’ll have to go get a picture of one for you Lewis! They’re pretty popular !

This is so interesting. In the Netherlands a lot of research is done every year about reading habits. I always love to read these studies. So many fascinating things about why people read, what they get from it ect ect. Having a good library nearby is very important I think. Is there resarch done in the UK about this topic?
