@@VicStefanu i agree it looks beautiful did the collapse of the byzatine empire in 1453 affect florence at all?
@VicStefanu11 ай бұрын
@@scott49140 Very interesting question... It was after 1453 that Florence became the epicenter of the Renaissance era..
@scott4914011 ай бұрын
@@VicStefanu is it true from what ive read , i bought a book about the medici recently and it talks about the doors on the front of the baptistry, they were created by lorenzo ghiberti after he won a competition , one of the designs is abraham sacrifice of his son issac from the old testament,
@VicStefanu11 ай бұрын
@@scott49140 I've seen that... I also want to mention to you that the emergence of the Italian cities (Pisa, Genoa, Florence, Venice) as great powers really started immediately after the destruction of Constantinople by the Venetians during the fourth crusade in 1204AD..

im also wondering if the byzatine art in sam marco was the work of sienese artists like either simone martini or duccio di buoninsegna
@VicStefanu8 ай бұрын
Do you mean San Marco in Venice??
@scott491408 ай бұрын
@VicStefanu no ha I meant the San Marco Church in this video where u said there was a byzantine mosaic, and you mentioned it seemed like the Italians would hire byzantine artists for some works of art
@VicStefanu8 ай бұрын
@@scott49140 That's right, the Byzantines were masters in creating religious mosaics and the Venetians used then to decorate some of the churches of Venice..
@scott491408 ай бұрын
i bet the building of a lot of these structures were signifanclty slowed down due to the bubonic plague which also took place around the mid 14th century espescially as the three different types of marble that came from different areas of italy,
@VicStefanu7 ай бұрын
I agree.. This (the plague) is one of the most important reason that contributed to the delay of completing many cathedrals being built at the time, especially in Germany..
