Any workplace that has a shared kitchen space goes through this “clean up after yourself “ situation. I’m a teacher and in one school there were constant comments and, yes notes just like Pam’s, about cleaning up - whether it was dishes in the skink, the coffee pot, food left in the refrigerator or the microwave. The next school I moved to didn’t have a staff coffee pot. When I asked why, I was told because no one ever clean it! So I agree with you that this plot in the story was too relatable for too many people and therefore uncomfortable (I know it stressed me out) and bogged down the episode!

Yeah, the microwave thing had my blood boiling. It's such a common sense thing to do. Make a mess, clean it up. I know they made everyone else against Pam for the joke, but I never find these ganging up on someone for a joke funny, especially when that person was right.

Pam was right to make that note. her whole "by leaving the microwave messy, you are telling the person who uses it next that your time is more important than theirs" thing really stuck with me. It's so *true*, even if its a small thing, those small things add up. Anyhow, I guess I'm a Pam. My roommates always hated me for leaving notes and asking them to do simple things (recycling, changing toilet paper tube, etc). To me it feels like if you think you are too busy to do small things, you think other people deserve to do these things for you. It's entitled imo. Leave a comment with how much you hate me I guess.

There are multiple reasons that they would remove/hide/modify brand names & logo's. It happens a lot. One of the most common ones I see is to have the Apple logo covered up or modified on a laptop. Also for drinks & food to be a fake or hidden brand. Some of the reasons are: -TV shows & networks aren't going to want to advertise products for free, when a lot of their business models are to get paid to advertise products. -Brand logo's are copyrighted. Some brands are going to want to have control over how their logo's and products are portrayed in shows & movies. Shows aren't going to want to have included a product in a scene, then have the company come along and demand licensing fee's or threaten legal action. Then the show has to either pay up, deal with a lawsuit (which is a pain even if they think they would win), or reshoot/edit the scene to remove the product/brand logo. Shows create props that look similar to a name brand product. With the goal of it looking similar enough for viewers not to notice, but distinct enough to cover themselves legally. It can be fun to try to spot them. It's pretty common for them to have funny parody names & logo's

10:01 Pam, during the house walk through, might have just had a mood change after the B plot of the episode. I haven't seen the extended scenes of this episode with the note debacle (I think she was in the right because everyone was being unreasonable to her). But I think Pam was just having a rough day and then the whole thing with Jim buying something without her knowledge could have added to her pretty tough work day. She was definitely stressed that it was something she might not like, but once she walked through the place she was reminded that there was someone that was always by her side (until the next episode with the chair vs copier fight).
@danielafl16774 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Also, I think she accepted the house because she was happy Jim still encouraged her to follow her dreams despite failing art school. She seems to dislike the house until she saw the art studio in the garage. Also, Jim was so happy they are finally going to live together, showing her he is serious about committing to her. I guess Pam understood that Jim's actions, although a little bit selfish, were flued by love and excitement, and not by disinterest about her feelings or thoughts.
@rapidprimus4 жыл бұрын
@@danielafl1677 Yeah, cause buying a house for a loved one, and also helping your parents out is sooo selfish. Also they weren't even married yet, plus they could sell the house if they didn't like it, plus they would have to live in one of their places anyway, plus..i mean how many reasons can I give here...
@Mulverine4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call what Jim did selfish, but it was definitely a misstep. For me, when we bought that condo, we were essentially stuck there for a while. Soon after, it was no longer worth what we bought it for, meaning we had to wait out the economic downturn, that literally happened months after Jim bought the condo...so they'd be stuck too. So what I did, not on purpose, was basically take the choice away from my soon-to-be-bride. Intention was good, but maybe not the wisest. Also selling a house right after you purchase it is, I think..., not a good idea. If you make money on it, you have to pay capital gains, and if you're selling it so quickly after a purchase, you'll have weary buyers. Also, you'll lose some money on fees associated with agents, tax and title stuff too. Not an expert though...just commenting that it's not just easy to sell the newly bought house. And then, you're right, they would need to live in one of their places, but I think both of them were renting. Buying a house is a long term investment. So the traditional thing to do would have been to finish out a lease and look to buy a home together, where they can both make choices about features, style, location, blah blah.

The house decision(s) work because neither one of them are making those decisions solely for themselves, as in, they are (or at least think they are) making those decisions for the benefit of the other person more than themself. Pam probably would have been fine in some standard Scranton apartment with Jim & Jim would have been fine living out his days in Scranton without Athleap. As is a common theme in episodes like this, they show three sides to the same problem. The normal people (Jim & Pam) handle it like normal people and it works out for the reasons stated above. The more “eccentric” characters handle it either wrong & are kinda remorseful (Michael) or are just downright shitty (Ryan). Also, clean your mess at the office & there won’t be a need for a note. So so so gross.
@rapidprimus4 жыл бұрын
Love that analogy. But I would say the three sides are: Normal (Jim and Pam), Eccentric (Michael, Kevin, Phyllis, Toby) and Batshit Crazy (Dwight, Meredith, Angela, Creed).
