Exploring George's Island in Halifax, Nova Scotia

As of August 8th, 2020 George's Island in the middle of the Halifax Harbour is open partially for public access. Parks Canada along with Ambassatours Gray Line / Murphy's On the Water are operating the tours that take you from the cable wharf in downtown Halifax to the island back again. The boat ride lasts 10minutes and departs every 40 minutes.
George's Island is a great place to visit in the middle of the Halifax Harbour. You can visit to spend the day exploring the ruins or grab a picnic with a view over looking the Halifax skyline. There are also guided tours offered through the underground tunnels of Fort Charlotte in the middle of the island.

Looks amazing, the tickets went quickly though...so I’m not sure how accessible it is to everyday folks. Everyone I know who were able to get tickets snagged them off a politician

I looked on the website the other day and there were still tickets left for the later weekends. I think it's pretty accessible. Unfortunately for this year though they are only open for 5 weekends. But next year the idea is that it will be open 7 days a week and have a bigger schedule! There is still work to be completed too. Also if you have your own boat or kayak you can go! lol
