Love your vid. My first time in Hangzhou was in 1995. Since then, I've been back to the West Lake one more time. I'm sure it's very different now. But what likely hasn't changed is that if you get to the lake by 7 am, you will see groups of ladies doing fan dances and other traditional dances, all decked out in synchronised colourful attires.The one pleasant surprise too is that when you walk among the trees around the lake at that early hour, there's a very special fresh scent and to this day I've not managed to ask the locals but i think it comes from the trees. The scent is unlike anything I've ever experienced; it's subtle but just so pleasant and refreshing.

My favorite thing is to get up at 5am and walk the west lake. When it is getting light out there and few people are around, the place is astonishingly beautiful. I get back after 8am when the place starts to get crowded

Ancient Street was fun when I was there.. West Lake of course is beautiful.... funny thing was most people were looking at their phone while cruising on the boat! :) . I was there in Oct of 2019, just a few months before COVID.

Have you been to Nanjing, Wuxi, Yangzhou, Wuzhen? Those are nice places abundant with history, culture, and nature too. Nanjing has the longest ancient city wall and a extravagant temple that holds the Buddha's skull bone, etc
