This is my first video about Tennessee and it was a lot of fun! I knew very little about Tennessee Route 13 when I started. What I found was a very scenic drive and some interesting history along the way. Clarksville is the only major city, with the next largest town being around 5,000 people. There are many ghost towns too!

That is real two lane blacktop travel beauty! And the beauty of that area just makes it even better. What a trip that would be up on two wheels! The beautiful old architecture kept up so well and the new filtered in to where they so well work together is so nice. And those two lanes weaving back and forth and up and down through the trees and the meadows and along the waterways is the kicker. Beautiful trip! Thanks for one swell of a ride.

These small towns are so charming - makes me think of and crave a simpler time and pace of life (so long as I can keep my internet). And the beautiful winter skies you've picked up in the last couple of videos - I"ll re-watch when it's 100 degrees and muggy here in Wichita. Thank you for sharing your travels with us!

You picked a better part of the state to show folks who havent been to Tennessee, and easier. Tennessee is very unique, it is 3 states in 1, each with its own topography, Middle is my preferred, but I live in NW Tennessee, (long story), Dad was from TN, I was born in Chicago and had to move here as a child, age 5. I lived in Nevada 17 yrs, loved it!!! GO CUBS - GO!!!!!!!!! M8ddle Tennessee is really pretty part of the state, rolling hills and pastures.

My grandmother on my father's side was from Waverly Tn. I know Route 13 very well. It is amazing how smaller towns still look pretty much the same as they did 50 years ago when I was a kid staying at my grandmothers when she lived in McEwen. We always went to Waverly because two of her brothers had big farms down there off of 13. I spent a lot of time working around those farms. There used to be a little restaurant on the right going up the hill when leaving Waverly that many of the farmers and old timers would hang out at. My great uncles were always there. This video brings back so many good memories and some sad ones too. My best friends father was the crane operator lifting the derailed train cars back onto the tracks when the explosion happened. Rumor was the Fire Chief was smoking and that caused the explosion, but I don't know that as a fact. I just remember it was very cold with snow on the ground and large helicopters were flying over heading toward Waverly to assist with all the injured. Thank you sharing this video. I truly enjoyed it.

Gosh I bet you could have spent a lot of time at that beautiful Wilma Rudolph museum. I would have loved reading the sidewalk. Of course all along that beautiful route were places that were so interesting. I always love when you take the back roads, you find so many interesting things, places, people on a dirt road. I can honestly say I've had far less trouble on dirt roads. Another great video dear. Always look forward to Sundays with the Wise man. Stay safe and GOD bless

What a cracking little film, thanks John, thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely area's, good roads and great weather. Interestingly, many of the larger (small) towns had close to their peak populations, must be a thriving area and people obviously like their locality. once again, great stuff, looking forward to our next episode!

Beautiful country. Love Hurricane Mills. What a beautiful area. Noticed the Amish man at the end. Our nearest neighbors are an Amish couple who built a house in the field behind us. They just went off to church this morning. They have a very long driveway. We have a foot and a half of snow. Horse and buggy seem to work better than our car, which is snowed in! (Mid-Michigan) ☃

Love seeing this. I grew up in St Bethlehem and currently live in Clarksville. Three of my kids graduated from Montgomery Central. Curious as to why you refer to some of these as ghost towns?
@TravelwithaWiseguy
@TravelwithaWiseguy Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Ghost town has many definitions so it depends on which ones you’re referring to. The most broad definition is a town that’s a small fragment of what it used to be. The most specific is an abandoned town.

I wonder if you have traveled through the northern parts of North Dakota and Montana through back roads? I would be very much interested to hear and see what that country looks like.
