Exploring History and Beaches in East Indonesia (Saparua, Maluku)

In this video, I take you to explore Saparua island in Maluku, East Indonesia. On this channel, I am after the nicest beaches, and well, Saparua island has a pretty unique one! There is a white sandy beach with a 300-year-old fort on it!
If you enjoy empty beaches, look no further than East Indonesia! This is my 9th video of my East Indonesian series - I was on my way to Raja Ampat, but I had a 2 days layover in Ambon, the capital of Maluku province. Instead of staying in the city, I decided to explore the smaller islands to the east - and it turned out to be a great decision, because I found amazing beaches and fascinating historical sights!

We were on duurstede last year in august. My mom was born on Saparua ,Tuhaha (living in the Netherlands now) We spend a day on the beach right in front of that guesthouse. Funny to see you there. Going back next year.

Definitely a wonderful way to explore but is it possible that you can always categorize the abundance of beautiful place? Let`s say places with best beaches, best history etc. That would be a very interesting way to see the places that you visit. Keep up the good work 👍

@@christinapattiasina4641 Hello! The guide is called Julian, this was his number when I was there: [phone]. Add him on WhatsApp, most locals use that to communicate. The guest house is called Penginapan Duurstede, it’s the one directly behind the beach under the fort. I don’t have their contact number, but they have a couple of rooms, they always have vacancy (Saparua is not a touristy island). I hope this helps!

What month was this? How long were you allowed to stay in Indonesia? Whats the visa situation like? Thanks.

This trip was back in January/February. I had an e-visa that allowed me to stay for 30 days. A lot of countries are eligible for this visa. My trip was 3 weeks long, but the visa can be extended once for an other 30 days. I've heard that if you get your visa online, you can also extend it online (otherwise - if you get visa on arrival at the airport, you have to go to an immigration officeif you want to extend it). I think if you want to stay longer, you should go to an embassy and ask about your options.

Hi! I don't have a number for the guest house, but I do have a phone number for a local guide who speaks English, his number is [phone] (his name is Julian, he is from Saparua, you can add him on Whatsapp), he can help you with everything. I didn't hire a car, I went around by a motorbike (Julian can help you with that, too), because the island is small, a car is not really necessary (unless there are more people, of course).
