you did a great job describing Hoonah. I moved here last august after visiting on 3 separate cruises. yes, food is very expensive here. Thank you for all of your kind words. I love it here.

My home town, I grew there until 1964 and haven’t been back. I just moved back to Juneau after 36 years. Can’t get over how much Hoonah has changed from the village I remember.

We really enjoyed Hoonah. The community was amazing and made us feel so welcome to their town. We head back to Alaska again this year. Can’t get enough.

Nicely done, with sensitive camera job. My favorite port in AK. I am glad you pointed out the beauty of Hoonah even in that fairytale misty wet monochromatic day. And not too many people take time to talk to master carvers and inhale the scent of cedar. Bravo!

@@lindsayslivealittle You are welcome. I am offended when people say there is very little to do in town. It’s just not true. Locals like to share their rich culture and life.

@@lindsayslivealittleHaha. The initial drop is a little intense but pretty chill after that. It’s like sticking your head out of your car window driving down the freeway.

@@lindsayslivealittle I also loved your video comparing Norway and Alaska. I’ve been to both and I agree with you 100%. Both are very beautiful but both are very different in their own ways. I myself enjoyed Alaska more because of the animals. Ed

I want to do the walk to Hoonah. I have a sore knee. Would you say it’s Uphill going back to the gondolas? Or is one way more “uphill” than the other? Hope that makes sense…. Thanks! You guys are adorable and I like how well you explain everything!
@lindsayslivealittle
@lindsayslivealittle 8 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I would suggest taking the gondola if you dock at that port. I (Emma) carried Poppy a good portion of the way last time and it was definitely hilly. And not the easiest. The walk to Hoonah has one slight “hill” but I would say it was very gradual and not super apparent unlike the walk that the gondolas do. The one “hill” is that image of the rock sticking out of the water. Everything else is relatively flat. The Honnah walk is paved. You can always do what we did… take the bus one way and walk the other. It is a very pretty walk. Hope that answers your question. You can see it in this video the walk instead of gondola! m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5_GoHqForSJopY&pp=iAQB

I actually just looked back at my Apple Watch and it says that the elevation gain for that walk back from Hoonah was only 9 feet. And it was gradual so not too bad. Emma

In 23 more days, I'll be leaving on the NCL Bliss, for the 7 day Alaska. While in Icy Strait, I'll be taking the gondola to the top of the mountain, for a look-see.

The price for your fish and chips was not really bad considering it was fresh fish and it was up in Alaska. Where I live in Connecticut we would pay at least $16 per person for fish and chips plus then a drink so that’s almost as much as you paid and we’re not in Alaska to enjoy it. I just enjoy watching your videos, so keep them coming. Ed

Thanks so much for watching. Agree. But $40 for 1 beer, one fish and chips and a side of fries was a little high. Honestly there wasn’t much fish and we have paid a little less in some other places around Alaska. But definitely not horrible. Emma & Jack

How did you like the NCL Sun? We are going next month and stopping at Icy Strait Point it looks wonderful. Did you do this port on your own without an NCL excursion? Seems like you really got a good tour of the area!
@lindsayslivealittle
@lindsayslivealittle 7 ай бұрын
We liked the Sun. The smaller ship doesn’t offer as much to do as the bigger ships on the ships but gives you longer times in ports which is nice. We did our own “excursion” and went Hoonah. Highly suggest taking the bus or walking to town and seeing what a true small Alaskan town experience is like!

A question for Jack, dad to dad how was that toddler back pack hahah. We are going to Alaska and are heavily considering this as we have seen your stroller struggles. We got a squirmy little one who wants to run around everywhere. Curious if you needed a lot of breaks. Thank you!
@lindsayslivealittle
@lindsayslivealittle 9 ай бұрын
The backpack is so much easier to me than the stroller. Easier to get around because with the terrain and paths in Alaska you need to bring a bigger stroller not travel size so the backpack is easier to pack. Didn’t need a lot of breaks but we live in Colorado at elevation and hike with it quite a bit. But if you do need breaks it has a nice “kick stand” so easy off and easy on.

Nice video, but you skipped one of the main attractions. I suggest taking the red gondola to the top of the mountain. Views there are amazing, even if you don't ride the zip line.
@lindsayslivealittle
@lindsayslivealittle Ай бұрын
I agree that the red gondola looks amazing but the past 2 times we have been there it wasn’t the best weather and we would have spent a good amount of money and not been able to see very much if anything due to rain and clouds! And Emma would do the zip line but no way Jack would do it! Thanks for watching!
