if Kenshi had come out around the same time Warband did, it would for sure be regarded as a treasured classic. I think the steeper learning curve is the main thing keeping it from getting there.

I love the sense of wonder that travelling the world of Kenshi gives you. It's one of the few games where you really feel like a post apocalyptic nobody, a lot of othe post apo settings have a ton of recognizable stuff that you as the player know about regardless of whether or not your character really should, but everything dating back to the oldest (as far as we know anyways) civilization on the world the game takes place in can be so far removed from our own real life frame of reference that it can be difficult to discern what their original purpose was. There's a few fairly obvious ones that we can make some good educated guesses about, but that's it. One of my favourite details are the ancient lab structures. They're called ancient and are some of your go to places for finding things like AI cores and other old bits of tech, but one of them sits inside a massive cylinder that's fallen out of the sky, the lab must have been built after the fact since obviously an impact like that would probably affect the local trout population, and seeing as this place is literally in what seems to have been seabed once, and the sea isn't there anymore, I can only assume that it in fact did.

I'm not sure if later in the video you mention the shinobi thieves faction, but they are a great faction to join early on and can provide training sites to speed up the early game. Plus smuggling can net you some insane income in the mid and late game

I'm fully aware of some of the later lore secrets. Just delivering it in a way where if you haven't played Kenshi, you could stop watching at any point and play the game. Trying to save juicy lore for later episodes, when the characters encounter them.
