WIth the tourists gone, people banned from the beaches, and the Jet ski tours shut down, the Key West beaches are paradise. With no one around, i figured it would be a great time to do some exploring and check out some of the piers and hidden coves. I also ran into a great secret fishing hole.

Snook are smart. A shrimp's natural inclination is to kick like hell when it sees a predator. Throwing a plastic shrimp near a snook and just dragging it slowly confuses it. Most of the time It will get spooked and not bite.

Very nice! You can hold your breath quite a long time. It is a shame what Key West/Monroe County is doing and so wrong. Fishermen practice social distancing as a matter of course. I went fishing today off of Horseshoe Beach in Dixie County. The public boat ramp was open and filled with truck/trailer/boat. The fishing was very good too. We landed the limit of sea trout and still threw many back. My buddy also caught a giant red fish and a puffer fish.

@@tylerbrock4831 where we launch from there is no pier. That's not to say that you can't throw into the channel. Just don't know how productive that would be. I am not too familiar with the rest of the cape. Sorry.

Im so jealous, I use to live on a small south pacific island and I have a kayak and also a outrigger canoe, and did a ton of fishing, outrigger canoe was awesome made of marine ply, could sail or paddle it. But wish i was there now, as I would not be so bored, im stuck in suburbia now. I do not mind the isolation so much socially but its the being cooped up that gets to me. But its worth it to lessen the impact on everyone, stay safe everyone.

Personally I would jerk the rod more aggressively and then let the plastic drift down to the bottom and repeat. It's that yo-yo action that covers most of the water column and grabs the attention of predatory fish.
