Exploring Land Between The Lakes. Center Furnace & Hematite Lake

In this video I explore ruins of an old mining town in Land Between the Lakes in Western KY. Hematite was an old mining town where they mined and melted down iron ore. Georgia Corey that shoulda like a great childhood memory. I was never any good at bass fishing so anytime I go fishing anymore it’s for bluegill or sunfish because our area ha an abundance of them.

Thanks for taking me along. Is there a lot of free camping in that area & what are the time limits? I’ve been thru that area a few times but always on my way elsewhere, I’m hoping to try traveling full time.I have always enjoyed your videos as inspiration.

Stephen O'Laughlin thanks for watching. I’ll have to get all that info for you on limits and stuff. There is a ton of camping in the area. You do have to buy a back country permit, but you can camp just about anywhere off the public roads (paved and gravel). I do know the permit is $30 for the entire year, but a 3 day pass can be bought. I usually just get the yearly pass.

RubberTrampRenegade Thanks 30 bucks is a good deal. I mean I really like the idea of living life on the road as opposed to traveling. To stay in an area for long periods moving to destinations slowly would be best 👍👍
