I love seeing people overcoming difficult obstacles. You gained a new follower here. Im actually an above the knee amputee in the process of building my own van out right now. Since im a disabled veteran. It gives me the financial freedom to do the van life experience. Follow my journey if you want. Its gonna be fun😊

How much is admission? We have a family vacation in Grand Rivers in mid-July, and this might be a fun thing to do one night (multi-generational from 20 months to 70 years).

Hey there! Grand Rivers is just 10 min away! General admission is $10 for ages 12 and up, $2 for ages 6-11, 5 and under are free. One some occasions like tonight (National Drive In theater day) we do $20 carload pricing.

Thank you! I never would have guessed I’d be here either, but here we are. I couldn’t let it go to ruins like so many others. It sat empty for almost 2 years before we purchased it. We reopened it in 6 weeks after purchasing it but it was a challenge.

WOW! Haven't seen you in a long time. A drive in theater huh? That's awesome, but not surprising. You were always innovative and into something cool. I wish people behaved better. Sometimes dealing with the public can be a real nuisance. Anyway, really nice hearing from you. All the best in your new adventure 🙂

Wow..been a while ! Not sure what it is with people and trash.. doesn't seem like a tough concept. You have trash and you put it in the receptacle..lol. Here in Wash state we used to have several drive-ins..think they're all gone. Back in the mid 90s I visited a friend in Reno..they had a drive-in with 6 screens ! Good luck with the new business venture 😁👍

I'm trying to figure out like with flooring, I can put wood glue and then the insulation and then a canvas cloth and then if I could put cement over it and it would harden the same as if with glue because I have like 50 lbs of quick cement

Any idea if pmf works on the smooth film of polyisocyanurate foamboard.... it's R value is 6.5/ in rather than 5/in pinkboard

I did basically the same but found huge advantage using a “ribbed roller”. These are like a bunch of half inch washers with spacers on a frame used to get resin to penetrate fiber glass chopped strand. I found it very helpful to get out wrinkles and get maximum penetration into my drop sheet.

It’s not the Titebond that creates a waterproof barrier, it’s the multiple layers of paint that you follow up with. Titebond II is not waterproof.

Have you done any tests for compression? Like if you built a cabinet and the sides were made up of foam with PMF coating. How strong do you think it would be?

When we were youngsters, other coatings were only used if that's all u had, and I don't think I ever saw wood glues.. PMF to us was still using standard industry resins, but laminating with God only knows what fabrics we could get our hands on. I had an emergency repaired boat transom, still goin' a decade when I sold her, rebuilt on resin and Wrangler blue jeans ("Cowboy Cut ;-) cuz that's what we had 200mi round trip from any store..then it continued to hold well so I left it. I guess in the end, "Poor Man's Fiberglass" is anything that does the job & is less expensive than real fiberglass..though even that's a close call for some of the more elaborate PMF jobs I've seen on KZbin ;-) Thanks for sharin' brother, it looks good 👍

I found your channel while looking at different van builds for ideas. I never knew anything about building with foam. My curiosity led me to teardrop and truck campers built from smart (Poor Man’s Fiberglass), lightweight, and cost effective materials. Some of these guys go off-roading and across very challenging terrain for years with no issues. So, here’s my crazy but serious question. Could this method of building be used to build affordable structures to house the homeless even for short term transitional housing, if not long term?

UV light is what’s damages even fibre glass or any other paint so where possible keep it in a shed and covered with a drop sheet.

How much was the cost of the PMF project, glue and tarps etc. ?
@b_ks
@b_ks Жыл бұрын
How do the costs compare? At the very least, I think canvas and wood glue would be more pleasent to work with than fiberglass cloth and resin.
@RubberTrampRenegade
@RubberTrampRenegade Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure on cost comparison, that’s just what it’s known as. It may or may not be cheaper than actual fiberglass. However, it does not have the strong odor from off gassing like fiberglass resin does and it doesn’t burn your skin or eyes like the fumes from resin does.

I have no idea if this is true, but I read somewhere that you should use stranded wire for van or trailer builds. It had something to do with solid, house-type wiring not holding up to the shock, vibration and constant motion of on-road applications. Does anyone have any input on this subject?
@RubberTrampRenegade
@RubberTrampRenegade Жыл бұрын
Stranded wire is better for builds prone to vibration and movement. However, my van rode relatively smoothly down the road and did not rattle my teeth out like a trailer would bouncing around so it was perfectly fine.

Update, sprayer redesigned, pure crap. If you buy the pump spray bottle, buy a 1/4" adapter with male burr on that end to 1/2" threaded female on other and install onto sprayer hose then you can screw on a regular shower hose and any shower wand you want.
