It's interesting how 9-10 minutes is classed as a long wait on the Japanese monorail. The London Underground is fairly good considering it's the oldest in the world, but I regularly take quieter routes and the Overground which can regularly involve 10+ minute waits. Just shows the efficiency of Japanese railways and inter-city rail systems.

here in rural US it can take over 30 minutes for a public bus to come, and that's assuming your city has a public transit system. I just moved into a smaller area and they dont even have a public transit system. All they have is a Greyhound (separate company that shuttles people between major cities/into bigger ones) that comes twice a day. Safe to say I was astonished when they first said 10 minuets was a long time, when I would have to wait over half an hour for a bus when I was in my hometown with a large public university.

Loved this video! The Seibu Saitama Lions stadium is at the end of the Seibu line next to Tama lake, a big detour. You could do multiple videos in that area, the baseball stadium, the snow dome, Totoro hiking trails, the amusement park etc

I like the suspended monorails, like in the Kamakura/Enoshima area because they're like a bus in the sky flying over the road below... but they're especially rare. They do require less infrastructure than the train-on-top monorail though so its a shame there aren't more of them.

You said about events at Ramen Square. If I remember correctly, back in olden times (pre-covid) the idol group Kamen Joshi used to have their trainee group performing there quite often. That was 4 years ago now and I expect that it was stopped due to Covid

Hi. I just recently found your channel and am enjoying it very much. I was a kid running around Tachikawa and Nakagami. It's been years. And vears. And years. Pre-Tama Monorail. Well, it was under construction. I could actually see the construction of the railway from my front door. But unfortunately my parents uprooted me and practically at gunpoint forced me to move to the states. It was so traumatic.😂 The only monorail I've ever ridden was in Las Vegas. Not impressive. 🙄 I look forward to watching your videos and following you guys on your life's journey. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu! ✌️😊

The monorail line switching system is really similar to Maglev's system, and those things are suuuper expensive to build and maintain! Great point about the way Japan "does" suburbs, as they seem pretty integrated with the overall metropolitan areas. The US suburbs are frankly disheartening... That faux NY Ramen place was something else in the "what were they thinking?" scale!

There's actually a benefit to alternate spellings that immediately occurred to my easily confused @$$ 😂 These rail locations may be mistaken for one another easily without some obvious distinctions. My main complaint with the arrangement of rails in NYC was exactly that; I ended up going the wrong direction due to no clear indications on which way was which in some places.

I still don't understand exactly what IS tofu. The first and only time I tried it (I think it was in a salad) I assumed it was cheese. That's how it looked. YEGADS, IT WAS NOT CHEESE. It was kinda slimy or... it was like biting into a piece of fatty gelatin. I just can't do it.
