I love ryoukans but omfg is 8t seriously worth paying $250 Cad for? I plan on moslty staying in capsule hotels when I visit in March but I plan on going to smaller cities where there won't be capsule hotels so are ryoukans worth it for 1 night? Are all meals included?

4 years later, and KZbin recommended this to me. Yes, I've seen it before, and it's always worth watching. Still just as enjoyable as ever. Good times! I definitely want to go back and check the Dai Kannon out again during sunrise for more pictures. Laughing at myself being passed out due to needing to wake up so early that day 😂. I can't believe I missed out on the deer at Kamaishi!

The only things I know about Northern Japan are from the late Rodger Swan's old videos when he was in JET and teaching in Hanamaki before his death. And some other videos from some bloke who's a Broad in Japan ;)

You really look to prefer countryside more than big busy city. There is a typical Japanese tradition in coutryside. People are not so educated or intelligent but they are simple and frank. I love countryside.

On my second trip to Japan I went up to Aomori and rented a car and drove around Lake Towada and it is honestly one of my most treasured memories! I also visited Hirosaki and Hachinohe while I was there. Everyone was super friendly and surprised that I would come up to northern Japan as a tourist! Everyone should go

Thank you for posting this, Sharmander~! I really love seeing these different and interesting out - of - the - way places most people don't visit. I feel like I'm seeing the REAL Japan as opposed to the usual places people go. I still love seeing the cities and popular areas too, but the rural landscape is very beautiful in its own way.

On my first trip to Japan, I travelled all the way up to Hirosaki for the cherry blossom festival. It was crazy because there was still snow on the ground at the end of April! The train trip was long but enjoyable because I got to see a lot of the country side. Would definitely recommend to other people traveling to Japan

Yessss I'm super excited!! I love everything you show us about Japan. It looks like a lot of fun road tripping! I've only been to tokyo/nara/kyoto/osaka areas and I want to travel other places too. Northern Japan looks really nice. I love it :) So excited for the rest of the series!!!

The North is the first place I'm visiting in a few weeks when I go! Aomori and also up to Sapporo! I'll be limited by my JR pass though so no car for me

Tohoku area is so great! I have relatives in Aomori-Ken, and have visited the Iwate area a few times, hope to do more exploring in the area in the future! Thank you for sharing!
