This is basic knowledge for any Western Canadian who knows the region, but Golden Ears Park (known as the Golden Aeirie when it was first named about 1900, due to evening alpenglow on its highest peaks as seen from Vancouver) is one of BC's SMALLEST wilderness parks, located on the edge of Metro Vancouver. A quick look at any good map of BC, including the official Tourism BC road map, will identify the largest wilderness parks as Tatshenshini, Tweedsmuir, Wells Gray, Spatsizi, and Northern Rockies, all of them roughly the size of Banff and Jasper Parks in neighboring Alberta. There are dozens of others that are intermediate in size. Even Garibaldi Provincial Park near Whistler, which joins Golden Ears and has been frequently touted for National Park status, is many times the size of G.E. Provincial Parks in BC or any province are created and administered by the province as opposed to National Parks which are created and administered by the nation, the main difference is hunting is sometimes allowed under regulation in certain months in some Provincial Parks, but never in National Parks. Logging, mining, private property ownership and general construction is prohibited in both, occassionally a lodge or other essential visitor service will be given a permit to build and operate.

Aww nice vlog! Do you guys rent a car in Vancouver or own one? I am just curious if it's worth it buying since it's quite expensive in vancouver.
@NatandMax4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michiko! We don't own a car☺️ Vancouver is very diverse when it comes to transportation. You can travel around Greater Vancouver through sky train. and if you need to go a little further. There are always car shares around☺️ alternatively for sky train, there are buses, taxis and ride hailing services☺️ Hope this helps!

My roommate and I are thinking about doing a day trip to Golden Ears Park for the first time. However, we are a little bit confused about the park's website mentioning that a day pass is required. Did you guys need to reserve one in advanced to be able to enter the park and use the hiking trail?
@NatandMax4 жыл бұрын
Hi! During the time we filmed this. There were no reservation system if you're there for just a day. But we did get some news that BC is introducing a reservation system for a few provincial parks to reduce overcrowding and Golden ears provincial park is one of the parks taking part on the pilot. So we think it would be a good idea to go through the reservation. It is free for day use ☺️ you just need to book it.

Provincial parks in Canada are so different from National parks in US. Once you get away from the crowded campgrounds in Canada you are really in the wilds. In the US there are always people around you.
@NatandMax3 жыл бұрын
That's one of the things we love in Canada. I'm sure there are also places in the US that is not too crowded 🙂
