My mom moved to Pueblo, Colorado several year ago. When she moved there I knew almost nothing of the town. The more I researched and the more people I talked with, the more I was unsure about her decision to move there. The reputation and stories were not promising! But, mom saw an up and coming town filled with friendly people, and boy was she right!
Over the years I’ve grown to really love this town. The arts, the food, the people, the nature, it’s just so great! These is still a lot of stigma around Pueblo, so I wanted to make a video showing the Pueblo that I see and have experienced. It includes some of my favorite things: the Riverwalk, Neon Alley, Pueblo State Park, the Slopper, Walter Brewing and so much more!
I hope this video shows a side of Pueblo that maybe doesn’t get as much attention, but that I’ve really grown to love.

You need to judge this city by its cover. The crime is way worse than statistics identify. There are gunshots almost every night during the warm months and every couple nights during the cold ones. There are tweakers everywhere, and everywhere there's not a tweaker there's a heroin junkie. Someone broke into my truck and stole my McDonald's burritos while i ran into homedepot, didn't steal a single tool but cost me a window. People drive like it's a mad max meets fast and furious crossover! There are not enough stores for the amount of people there, that coupled with all the shoplifters means they will often be out of things you want. The bums are aggressive when you tell them no and I got into a handful of fights in the one year I was there. But they are usually drunk and can't hardly stay on their feet so if you're big enough to restrain a 5 year old kid that's no big deal. Unless they decide to pull a knife... -5/10 ⭐

Thank you so much for this!!! Pueblo is a wonderful place. I was born and raised here, but like everyone, couldn’t wait to leave. Graduated from college and left asap. I lived all over the country and things are the same in any city. I also love Detroit, and the places others don’t. That steel mill raised me and my four siblings, put food on the table and sent us all to college. Thank you, thank you!!!

Yes! This! Native Michigander here. I fell in love with Pueblo when one of my kids lived there, also in the Mesa junction area. Although they don't live there anymore, I plan to look for a place there when I retire unless I hit the lotto first, then sooner lol. It's hard to put into words but I pine for it. The weather is perfect, there are so many cool book and record and antique stores, very bohemian and very me in some of the downtown areas. Delicious food, all kinds of stuff to do. Art everywhere. Shorter winters but you still get that snow for Christmas. You can find bad crime areas in any town anywhere. I love Pueblo, and good for your mom for choosing an awesome place to be! I envy her!

I lived in Pueblo 2012-2021 and am thinking about coming back. I always liked the scale of the city. A negative thing is that Pueblo has expansive soil, which over time will crack your sidewalk, driveway, and foundation. The length of time that it will take is proportional to the thickness of the concrete. Much of the housing stock is older (1920s to early 1950s).

Wonderful video. I grew up in Pueblo left for 5 years and have been back for 50 years. Some of the bad reputation comes from locals who moved away and some still here. Pueblo is a hidden gem but I’m reluctant to see the cat out of the bag. As a business owner in the historic district I welcome the publicity but I also rue rampant growth. I have seen many positive changes over the years from the founding of the Sangre de Cristo Art Center in 1972, the reservoir, the creation of the historic district, the riverwalk and the fantastic library. I do not fear any part of town. One daughter lives on the east side and one in Bessemer. There are problems but nothing you wouldn’t find in most other towns.

We lived in Pueblo 25 years ago and was back in town last week. I won't lie, it was looking pretty sketchy. Lots of boarded up houses, homeless tents on the side of the highway. We were downtown the day after Thanksgiving so it was Friday and a holiday weekend. Nothing was open, we drove around looking for a place to have dinner and it was a ghost town for some reason. Love the weather in Pueblo, sunny and no humidity.

"Bad rep" it gets the reputation it deserves. It's a beautiful* city with some really unhinged people and some of the most disrespectful and dangerous drivers I've encountered outside of LA. Acting like there isn't a problem with the social state of this city will only cause the issues to never be resolved and simply become brushed under the rug until they get worse.
@Beaverto
@Beaverto Жыл бұрын
@@RealBono not sure about the drivers, there are much worse in every major city. I worked all over the country for 25 yrs, the very worst drivers I’ve seen are in Miami. Anyway, Pueblo has always gotten a bad rap from people in Denver/Northern Colorado, many of which have never even been to Pueblo. Those who actually spend some time here tend to like it. Most who move to Pueblo from Northern Colorado also like it here. Don’t get me wrong, Pueblo has lots of problems that need addressed. Drugs have become a huge problem over the last 6-7 yrs. Homelessness is a problem, but that is everywhere.

Pueblo is located in a state full of dope smoking Marxist lunatics - thus the crime wave is no accident and will not be resolved - it will only get worse, by design. From someone that has lived in Pueblo some thing that you need to do is 1. Bell, Canon, or Pigskin Football games. The bell is the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi. 2. Watch some baseball at Runyon 3. Go to any pumpkin patch on the mesa 4. State Fair 5. Chili festival. 6. State fair/ parade of lights parades 7. City park

I'm 70 years old now, but when I was 16, I proposed the River Walk to City Council; they denied my idea, but luckily, they eventually adopted it, although I never got credit for being the 1st one to propose it. The MOH (Medal Of Honor) are not "winners "; they are recipients. I knew all of them personally. Treat yourself to a tour of the Rosemont Museum, (and the Weisbrod Aircraft Museum at the airport. ) I was the ONLY chauffeur in Pueblo during the 1980s. I now live in Cripple Creek,Colorado (about 70 miles north west of Pueblo), but Pueblo is my hometown.

Hi, I loved your video, my son has been chatting to his friend who lives in pueblo for over 2 years. We are both coming over early next year so they can meet up and yes I thought the same as everyone else that it isn't the place I really want to come visit, or stay in, it didn't sound very safe. However your video has put my mind at rest somewhat and it sure does look lovely.

Thanks for a great video. I was born & raised in Pueblo. Migrated to CA in 1981... we've returned a few times to visit family & friends. You've captured places we haven't seen. LOL about eating "THE SLOPPER". Exactly what we do when we're in town, Gray's is our choice. Star Bar 2nd place :) Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Great stuff you hit. Not a native Puebloan, but I date one. Pueblo is an amazing town with great food too. If you haven't tried yet - Mill Stop, Dew Drop Inn, Solar Roast Coffee, B Street Cafe, Shamrock Brewing for Irish, Pass Key, Taco Stop in the north, Puukaow Thai in Pueblo West is amazing. Mauro Farms & Bakery in the County.

Thanks for posting this! I am a Colorado native born and raised in Denver, but left in 2017 for Pueblo because the growth in Denver and congestion was intolerable! It wasn't even like my home anymore. Pueblo is still like what Colorado used to be like before it was invaded. I think it is a bit overkill how bad the fake reputation is of Pueblo, but then again maybe it is a good thing as it has kept people from going crazy coming here. Denver had WAY more crime and rough spots of town than Pueblo hands down! I would say to the people that want to move here from out of town, DO be mindful to pick a nice area of town still as Pueblo is still a city. There are a couple little rough areas of Pueblo (just like every city), so don't move in on the rough side of the tracks. Most of Pueblo is great, and the pace of life is laid back. The people are amazing, they love their families and they have pride in their families and community (just as it should be). I am content to spend the rest of my days out here in Pueblo enjoying life and the laid back people. BTW Pueblo is EXCELLENT at preserving their history and historical buildings. That is another HUGE reason I came here as I am an old house and old architecture addict!
