I love Friday The 13th. It is one of my favorite movie in the franchise. Friday the 13th is one of my favorite slasher franchise of all time. I grew up with these movies and I watch them so much still today

I love this and Halloween. I think the first 4 FTT films are damn good and I actually enjoy every entry including Jason Takes Manhattan, Goes To Hell, and X. They are great stoner horror but the first 4 were genuinely scary and effective slasher films. Part V gets a bum wrap and part 6 is my favorite of the series lol (total tongue in cheek fun).

The atmosphere in this movie is excellent it really puts you in the campgrounds with these characters. The characters in this movie aren't the cream of the crop but their fine. It was also Kevin Bacon's first role.It would have be interesting if Annie was was the final girl instead of Alice. Tom Savini did a great job with the makeup effects.

Growing up watching this on vhs, Betsy Palmer said to Sean Cunningham "You're not even giving any hints to the killer" But later on watching this on DVD there are scenes where you can clearly see Betsy Palmer wearing a rain slicker.Harry Manfredini acknowledges he is a big fan of Bernard Hermann, the author of the Psycho theme. I like that you watch this thinking it's the first time you've seen it. That made Psycho that much more enjoyable for me even knowing about the shower scene and the ending.

A Bay of Blood (1971) influenced Friday the 13th (and it's sequel) and Black Christmas (1974) influenced Halloween (1978). Psycho (1960) and Peeping Tom (1960) influenced everything that came in its wake.

One thing I forgot about Annie is that she was going to work as a cook for the Camp. Mrs. Voorhees did said she was the camp's cook when Jason drown in the lake back in 57.

I like the creativity they had in this movie. I didn't appreciate it as much as a kid because I seen the others before this one so I was expecting to see Jason. But other than that good original slasher. I always preferred Michael Myers over Jason but I still love the friday series very much. I thought part 4 was by far the best. But I just checked out the fan film "Never Hike Alone" and boy did I love it!! Better than the installment's after part 4!! For that guy to create a film like that with a limited budget was just amazing!! They should bring him in to reboot the Friday series with a a studio budget!! Im not much on origin stories but I think he has potential to do great things considering Jason has never had one!! Do you think he would do a great job with a decent budget? But I would prefer if he didn't play Jason in a studio film he was great but I feel he wasn't bulky enough to play the role but for a fan film he did phenomenal. Just would rather them cast a bigger dude with a studio film as long as he can get Jason's movements down like he did. Would you agree!? Btw sorry for rambling on just love and miss the slasher genre being a big thing in horror. Im tired of the ghost/demonic jump scare films Hollywood has been doing. Love your opinions and reviews man!! Good work!!

Russy Shipley I would definitely like to see him direct something a little less high profile first and if he killed that then I’d love to see him do a Friday the 13th. Adam Green would be my first choice to do one right now. They need a seasoned horror director to pull Friday the 13th out of the grave. And yes, they would need a different Jason

Okay now that I have watched all of this series time to reply to each haha! I know most people love this one but for me its kinda middle of the pack for F13th. The reveal is great etc the first time around Some of the kills were great of course Marcy with the Axe though her head (was that her?) And of course Kevin Bacon's is hands down the best 100% agree.

This movie was just so horrifying. I mean I think parts 1&2 are the films where I think about what I would do in the characters situations. Especially in this first one. If I saw someone on the porch in semi darkness, do I follow them into the cabin? If I think someone is playing around in a half lit bathroom behind a shower curtain, do I confront them? If I heard someone calling for help at night in the rain, do I go out and help? And I thought the nicest characters were Bill and Brenda. Meaning not deserving of what fate had in store for them.

Here's something I never ever figured out. Pamela Voorhees basically had Alice dead to rights and trapped in some instances, why not kill her then. It's like she thought "I have you dead, but I'm going to waist time by slapping you and throwing you around because why not?"

A lot have tried to logically analyse the progression of events from the end of the first film to how part 2 begins and struggled to make sense of the boy version of Jason we see at the end of part 1 to the man version of Jason we get at the start of part 2. We know logic and continuity were never a strong point of these films but I think your explanation sums it up perfectly. Part 1 made a TON of money and was originally only planned as a one off. Pamela's been killed off. Let's bring Jason back to life. Another thing - when Ned faked his drowning I can imagine how enraged that must've have made Pamela while she was watching them from the woods given the way Jason died. The hottest chick in the film was either Alice or Annie - Robbie Morgan was gorgeous back then.

halloween 1978 is my all time favorite horror film. i really like h II (1981). season of the witch should have been a tv pilot to a series of stories transpiring on oct. 31st. halloween 4: the return is a legit sequel. halloween 5: other than the performance of danielle harris and the opening credits is a direct to video piece of garbage. halloween 6/666/curse (either cut) is total crap written by someone who did not under michael myers. h20 is a legit sequel. h: resurrection is as bad a film as any friday the 13th sequel. i like both the theatrical and director's cuts of rob zombie's two halloween films. i don't know why batman fans can say certain batman films belong to one series and the other batman films belong to a different series and halloween fans simply can not wrap their brains around the word 're-boot- when it pertains to halloween. rob zombie's halloween films are his; they are NOT carpenter's. they are rz's take on the material. they have nothing to do with the original series which by the time rz re-booted the series had been crapped on by SEVERAL inferior sequels. any way with the friday the 13th films, i like the first one and NONE of the others. all the other sequels are trash. i will give a passing grade to freddy vs. jason and the friday remake. (generally i detest platinum dunes and refer to them as white dung hills.) the MAJOR difference between the halloween series and the friday series is halloween was a director driven vehicle and friday was a producer driven vehicle thus leading to the halloween series aiming high and often missing their mark while the friday films aimed low and some times did not even manage to hit THAT mark. friday the 13th would not exist without halloween. the friday team sent members of their team to the theater while halloween was playing and had them write notes to which parts of the film (halloween) the audience was reacting to. since the Friday people did not have the vision, talent or technical skills of john carpenter they just added gore to add to the shock value and make for their incompetence as film makers. look at freddy kreuger...just take a moment and look at him. he is one of the most ill conceived horror characters EVER. he simply looks stupid with that hat and sweater. with his witch's nose (introduced in part 2) and those burns which look more like melted plastic. he simply is NOT scary. he also had the bad habit of delivering WORSE than henny youngman one-liners = not scary, but rather funny. i think BOTH the friday sequels and the nightmare sequels were made as generic as to appeal to the broadest possible audience and not 'just' the horror audience; the audience that usually wouldn't even go to a horror movie seems to love these two series. i give a passing grade to the first nightmare, nightmare 3, new nightmare and freddy vs. jason (even though i detest BOTH stupid characters.) friday the 13th (1980) is NOT a good film, but it was fun and has nostalgia on it's side. it does have game changing gore effects.

There is a bunch of foreshadowing just in dialogue alone on my recent rewatch of this film. At the beginning, you get this feeling of something being completely off when Annie asks about Camp Crystal Lake and being told, not once but twice about the death curse and how there was a boy that drowned and 2 camp counselors were brutally murdered, and the sense of where’s Annie, and then she gets murdered. Then Ned faking his death before it happens is quite eerie. The realization of Jack and Marcie we’re going to get “drenched” and then they both are murdered. The door magically opening during the Monopoly game signals Brenda’s death, because her windows were kept open. Bill being in a Red rain jacket. The Archery range. Steve Kristie being in that restaurant and Sandy being the last eye witness to have seen Kristie alive. The fact that Kristie and Pamela drive the same type of Jeep.
