The history of these and workmanship is incredible. We go up to Soo St.Marie in Mich and watch the big ships come in the lockes there. You and JP are really cool together.

Yay another point of view. It’s a plus to have your experience and knowledge in the view of all the places you go alone and with others. You seem to treat people with respect and do not damage the areas you visit. Thank you for that.

I get a little queezy in the stomach when you pan up to an overlook or the crest of the lock. Great view though. It's amazing how intact those walls are after 150 years of disuse. I loved the silver mine too.

What a back breaking job it had to be digging the canal and especially carving and putting all those massive stone blocks into place with no "powered" equipment like bulldozers and cranes. Where did the water come from that formed the lake and flowed through the canal?

Thanks for mentioning that hunting is allowed. You’re there during hunting season. Make yourself visible and less likely to be mistaken for a game animal. Wear some fluorescent orange. Target shooting in state parks - illegal. Littering - illegal. They misrepresent responsible gun owners.

I can't even begin to imagine all the annual labor going into everything to make those locks. To quarry the stone, to transport the stone, to make finished stones, then finally engineering and assembling the locks. All done without the aide of modern equipment. Just amazing.
