"The Heroes of Monte Cassino Street" is a memorial/homage to a certain WW2 Battle. The one in Sopot is the most famous, but every Polish city has its own Monte Cassino street, as well as a Mariacka street (typically leading to a St. Mary's church) a John Paul II street, and a Dworcowa street (leading to the main railway station).

The standard of living in Poland looks to be considerably better than the UK. In your video, Poles look healthier, and they are better dressed than Brits. The best food to keep you warm of season is traditional Polish food. Hot soup for the starter any stew or schabowy or mielony with potatoes and side veg or surowka finished with shot of vodka. It's also very nutritious, maybe except vodka. After having all that you literally take the jacket off.

Went there a couple of years ago, part of the tri-city, gdansk-Sopot -Gdnynia . If you walk down past the crooked house and then at the beach turn left and walk along the footpath , there is a lovely walk through the trees which you would like if it was too hot for you. I would not call Sopot underrated ;) It is one of top3 summer destinations in Poland. Many Germans come here as well, same as Russians used to. It is also popular in winter time as you could see yourself. Funny fact (Sheldon Cooper referring) - smaller piers like in Sopot are in all towns of Tricity. Even in Gdansk you previously visited and Gdynia - which in my opinion has best surroundings of all those 3.

How can anyone go swimming when it’s so cold? Brrrr 🥶 If this resort is busy in Winter what the heck is it like in summer?
@ineffablebuttercup2 жыл бұрын
In the summer polish coast is kind of unbearable (at least in bigger/more popular towns), it's extremely busy with an insane amount of people (plus dogs and screaming babies), also polish people really like to use fabric screens to separate from each other and make their own little spots on the beach. In general the sea in either too cold to swim in or when it finally gets warm toxic algae start to grow and you can't swim at all. In all honesty it's much better in any other season even if it's cold (plus it's healthy to walk on the beach because of the iodine in the air)
@mrghostly11182 жыл бұрын
@@ineffablebuttercup what is iodine?
@ineffablebuttercup2 жыл бұрын
@@mrghostly1118 it's a chemical element that's present in the air close to the sea (because of tiny water droplets), it's present in the air on the coast of many seas but mostly cold ones like the Baltic. Iodine is good for the nervous system, the thyroid and the respiratory system amongst other things (it's also available in foods like fish and seafood).
@mrghostly11182 жыл бұрын
@@ineffablebuttercup hm, can it be dangerous in high doses? No wait that's stupid its water basically? Well nice to know, so if i'd run there like a mile every second day would it be more beneficial for my nerve system breathing all that in and out?
@ineffablebuttercup2 жыл бұрын
@@mrghostly1118 i mean i'm sure pure iodine in high dosage would be dangerous (for example right now with the whole war and everything some people panic and drink the lugola liquid even though there is no radiation - it can hurt your thyroid) but the tiny amount in the air can't possibly hurt you. There are many "spa towns" along the coast (idk if that's a good translation) - where for example people with respiratory problems go to have some rest and get the benefits of breathing in pure air rich with elements (one of them iodine)
