"I cannot do that since it will mean raising the wages of all other govt. servants, but tell you what. I shall make some areas and days of the week DRY. The police pooh-bahs left with a big smile, eminently satisfied. Gujarat has 2 little sin cities, Daman and Diu, which are NOt dry!! So....!! Very little in India is as it seems on the surface!

in Gujarat please visit Rann of Kutch. The Rann Utsav is an awesome festival that takes place there every year. It is a carnival full of music and dance. It appears even more mesmerizing than usual if you witness it under the full moon. The Rann Utsav is so charming that it makes you believe that heaven descended on Earth. It Ends on February 20th, 2023.

You want to really try non-touristy places of India? Visit Ajanta and Ellora caves ,they are at a 5-6 hour drive from Mumbai. Just see the photos online first and then decide for yourself. It is a place which i think should be one of the most famous attractions in India but unfortunately it is not.

here is my suggestion. please visit Darjeeling India's Nepal. next you can visit Sikkim which is clean pollution free and first organic state of India. after that Uttarakhand State you can go to it is most authentic indian state in north india. lot of spirituality in that state but you can avoid Haridwar city as there is some scams not nearly as much as Delhi. beautiful state Himachal Pradesh is a great destination. state is full of great hill stations. its capital Shimla is like British town, please ride UNESCO World Heritage Shimla Kalka train. Dharamshala town is little Tibet where Dalai Lama and lot of Tibetan Refugees live. north of Himachal Pradesh there is Ladakh one of the most beautiful place on earth. instead of going by bus you can take airplane from New Delhi or other airports to reach Ladakh.

A trip to their village, and understanding their mode of life and the changes they have experienced, is worth investigating. in Gujarat there is first known planned city of India- Dwarka. carbon dating has proved some of the things found in old city of the Dwarka is between 9000 BC to 28000 BC. obviously western historians will reject this because then history has to be written and India would be given the credit of 1st human civilization. portrayal of Western media about Indians being uncivilized, backward people made somewhat civilized by it's colonizers will prove false. but the unfortunate part is the older part of the city is under the sea between India Pakistan border and not much research can be done.

@@TwoMadExplorers consider the few factors before having food from the street corners, like ask the locals if it is a safer place or see the reviews in Google. Because Indians don't eat Street food on a daily basis. We prefer more homemade food. For the same health reasons. Even I have experienced food poisoning. Most of the food are made in a unhygienic place, so just look around if the place is need/ the oil they use for deep frying is fresh/ something like that.

Do visit the state of Madhya pradesh. It is often completely overlooked by tourists, but has so many beautiful national parks, and world heritage sites to visit. you can base yourself in the capital city of Bhopal or nearby Indore, and then branch your travels from there. Even 2-3 weeks would be insufficient to explore everything so do your research as to what you wanna see.

Kanha / bandhavgarh/ Pench/ Kuno national parks (first three are known for their tigers, kuno is shortly going to start cheetah Safaris for the first time in India since their reintroduction) 3. Sanchi stupas (if you're interested in history) 4. Upper Lake in Bhopal 5. Sarafa bazaar chowpati in Indore which starts late at night 6. City of Ujjain

@@TwoMadExplorers In That Case, North Bengal region of West Bengal State and 8 North Eastern States of India-Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura would be ideally breath taking destinations over looked by most foreign national vloggers whenever they explore India. Other ideal destinations would be Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh States and Ladakh in North of India. Weather over there is very much alike Europe, cold and chilly during winters.

Bhagal is not a good place to explore surat. I'd recommend Althan, Citylight, Vesu, Adajan for your next trip. These are more civilized and modernize places haha

No Tourists? Probably because except for diamond and textile shops, there's not much to see or do in Surat. I guess the beaten trial (Golden Triangle, Deccan Tour, etc.) is where the interesting things are concentrated together, so Foreigners follow along those trials hoping to see many things in a short time. There are unique gems all over India but they are scattered. I don't think anyone can give you a must-see list, its kind of subjective. If you want to do something different, I guess you could just google and make up a list of 20 top places which seem unique and different to you from the other countries you've visited and then zip to each of them for a short 3-day stay. But I wouldn't suggest that as you'll end up really zig-zagging and spend a lot of time on train journeys. Also, it's only when you spend at least a couple of weeks in one State that you'll begin to get an idea about it's culture, history, heritage.

Surat is an industrial city but it is also an old city even older than Mumbai. Old parts of the city have much to see, may not be well promoted but there are many heritage like properties and religious places. It is next to the Arabian ocean, tapi cuts across Surat in two parts dense forested areas and mountains are just a few hours away. The food of Surat is top notch both veg and non veg but doesn't get much credit for it. It is also one of the cleanest major cities in India with top notch infrastructure.

To negate or mitigate the side effects of unhygienic food which is major cause of food poisoning is to drink atleast drink one glass of curd/yoghurt/lassi it works wonder noon is probably the best time to drink one but I m afraid you might not find authentic curd drink in metro city ask locals ... poor niaomi
