Nice to see that Surigao has progressed with businesses in the town center. I went once with a church charity relief mission in the mountains there. There is so much beauty but very sad to see how people live.
@AmazingPhilippines16 жыл бұрын
It was an interesting trip ECA BEN. There are lots of more remote areas of the Philippines and other nations as well where life is quite a bit different than in the city.

The tricycles are big. I big person can fit easily. Thanks Rod for sharing.
@AmazingPhilippines16 жыл бұрын
Tricycles vary greatly by area and these are quite large Jane. Perhaps because there seem to be far fewer jeepneys here and not taxis.

Nice to see you made a video about Surigao, I lived there for three years I can’t fault the city it’s probably one of the best cities in the Philippines, if you want the best food five star restaurant go to Parkway hotel next to it is flavours restaurant, ask for Chef Bong and if you are staying in the hotel ask for Godofredo they are my best friends and they will look after you.

Great video Rod! As always I appreciate your take on any area that you're focusing your attention on! Upon your traffic observation on the peaceful functioning of that extremely busy intersection maybe road rage would be greatly reduced here in western countries if all traffic lights were eliminated? Yeah that's the ticket! LOL! I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series and anything else you ultimately do on this under represented (in terms of vlogs) area of the Philippines! Thanks so much for your quality work as always enjoy your travels, take care and stay safe! Sincerely, BM
@AmazingPhilippines16 жыл бұрын
LOL. Eliminating traffic lights in the USA might not be the answer BM. It has a lot to do with attitude. It was a fun trip but we could have easily extended it for another day or 2 and taken more time to enjoy the area.

Yes, I stayed at Tavern hotel as well. Nice breakfast buffet. Nice BBQ stalls nearby and just brought it back to hotel and had it on the balcony while enjoying ocean view. Many of those bancas in front of Tavern Hotel go to Siargao and it is cheaper to fly into surigao. Will definitely return and explore further. Siargao is domestic only airport, but so is surigao as well.

Some expats like to live just outside of the "big" city Wayne so they are close to the better hospitals and malls while still saving some money by living out a bit. Talisay City just south of Cebu City. Liloan, Compostela, and Danao City are just to the north of Cebu City. Some like the Bacolod City area. Dumaguete is a smaller but good sized city with many expats living there. Iloilo City is also a medium-sized city. I would suggest making a list of your priorities and go from there. Cebu City has the largest international airport after Manila making it more convenient to travel.
