What a crying shame to see a building of such magnificence reduced to this. Lovely video, thanks.

I used to live there. My sister and I had the turret bedroom on the first floor. It's the first thing you see, as you walk up the driveway. My heart aches to see it in such disrepair. The graffiti feels like to me like desecration. Oakhurst was grand in it's day. It was magical. My sister and I recall sculpted ceilings, huge carved fireplaces, window seats and a sense of splendour. Even in its terrible, dilapidated state, I adore the place. We were so lucky to live there. Thankyou for this video. Don't make any more like this again though, you took alot of risks. The chimneys you admired could have fallen on you. Take care and Happy Christmas.

Me and my friends explored this about 18 years ago. There is tunnels underneath. Maybe a wine cellar that lead into other little rooms. I remember the massive spiders. There was a olden day wash basin with the wrack they used to wash clothes on. We went also when it was dark. Scary place but beautiful in it's day.

Hiya again Mate, Thanks for the reply back and directions on how to get to the place, I'll try and get myself there hopefully once the weather improves??? Just wondering if you could do another video up there, but this time, around the old Wire Works buildings if your able to get in, as that'll be another interesting one too. Oh and by the way, that place is haunted too. Can I just say that your videos are really good and very interesting and I really loved the music to this one too, it suited the place down to a tee, very atmospheric. 🙂 Near where I live if your interested, there's a place called Seldom Seem Engine House in Eckington North Derbyshire, it used to be an old pumping station for the Plumpley Colliery and powered the narrow gauge Railway too. And that's been put on KZbin too. Anyway keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing you in the next videos. Once again from. Mike.

Oh yes, the old twin tub washing machine, a staple diet of homes in the 60's and 70's, I recognised it straight away. It's been a bonus weekend with you producing two videos for us - a great effort Ant!! Looking at the pictures of the building in it's prime, it seems such a shame that it has been allowed to fall into the state that it is, but we don't know the whole back story - but it's still a real travesty.

Impressive ruins. It's always fun getting the chance to explore locations like this. It's always strange when floors are missing and you can look up and see windows and fireplaces with no floor dividing it up. Filming these places is like documenting history. Nicely done. The thing you weren't sure what it was... Looks like the rear differential from a car or small van. Strange find indeed!

From't main road twixt Mat/Cromford and Ambergate /Belper looking down across the wire factory site/River the house looks singularly flat, it's clever hotograohy that makes it appear as up uon a hill with grandish approach up to it, notwithstanding it's singular grandeur as a ruin with a chequered family history.

Hiya again Mate, thanks for posting another great video, keep up the good work. It's a wonderful old building and looked impressive in the old days from the photos you put on, plenty of money in those days!!!! It's a shame the place has been left in such a state. 😢 Would make a nice home for someone and with lovely views too. I've always wanted to try and find the place, I've seen it up in the woods a few times when passing on the bus, so I was wondering if possible you could give me directions from the Hurt Arms pub please? I've been told there's a footpath from there which leads up to the house? Anyway if you can let me know I'll be really grateful. Ps. Oakhurst House is haunted and like someone posted on here, the shining cliff woods are too. Apparently it is a very eerie place. Ps. again, while in the same area, have you managed to visit the old Railway station at South Wingfield at all yet? It's about ten minutes ride away from Alfreton and is a beautiful place, even with the old station house, now lived in, and station building too, but, sadly you can't get onto the old platforms because it's fenced off, and it's right next to the Midland Mainline too, be very careful as it's only a small flimsy fence. But parked in the station yard are three old motor vehicles, an electric hospital van, an electric car and another old van. Anyway it's a lovely place and has been put on KZbin a few times by other people. Anyway once again thanks for another great video. All the best from. Mike.

Hello 😀 OK from the hurt arms, head around a minutes walk in the Derby direction and turn right, this is Holly Lane. It crosses the derwent almost immediately. Once over the river, turn right again up a narrow road. You'll then come to a fork, take the right down a hill. Stay on this past all the wireworks warehouses ( mostly abandoned) until you come to another fork. Take the left one, you'll see an old open gate. Up the track, it does a hairpin turn halfway up and there you go 😀 I was reading about Wingfield yesterday and thought about going later this week

I went through that little doorway into the dark space back in 95 and believe me the floor that's not there now had the structural strength of a Cadbury ' Flake then, the bath you mentioned was still in place with a pair of big brass taps still on it.Most of the house was still standing and all the lower windows were blocked, one of the few ways in was over the red brick wall round back that has a slab leaning on it.So sad to see it really going down now, even 3 years back it wasn't as bad and had nearly no graffiti on it
