Exploring the Cancelled F2P LittleBigPlanet PS3 Game - (2013 Beta Build)

Right before PlayStation 4 and LittleBigPlanet 3, Sony and Sumo Digital were planning on launching a Free to Play LBP game on PS3 called LBP Hub. It was supposed to offer some free levels from LBP2, and access to the full Creation mode. Then you'd be able to buy additional costumes, materials, or levels separately. The game never ended up releasing, and many elements of LittleBigPlanet Hub found their way into LBP3. But recently a beta build was archived online for us to check out. So let's explore it together! You, me, Stephen Fry, and of COURSE Sackboy. Feels good playing LBP again. Been a long time. I'm a lil' rusty, but I still know my way around this burlap sack.

They didn't close it randomly. Some stupid kids DDoS the server daily until they were forced to close them, enabling LBP2 progress to go through LB3.

Exactly, Patapon, Invizimals and Modnation Racers are gone too. Now they made mostly those 18+ games, zombie ones, adventure ones, they feels just the same with each other. If not these, a new remake/remastered. I just want simpler games to have fun with, i need that Little Big Planet 4, possibly developed by Media Molecule this time, didn't really liked both LBP games made by Sumo Digital. LBP 2 is still the best game, imho.

No way, lbp mentioned! By the way, the LBP community almost completely fixed the build by now, now you can play the whole story modes and dlc and have all of the normal materials, and custom servers like Infinite (which im the owner of) also work, but challenges dont yet since its server side and we'd still have to implement it.

This game was going to get most of it's assets from a server. But obviously, those servers don't exist anymore. That's why a lot of stuff is broken. You can also apply modifications to this game to unlock locked menus such as community or store (that's hardcoded to be locked), and access custom online servers (Won't download game assets).

if you were to patch the game to include the entirety of LBP2's content, everything would work the issue is that the game only comes with a subset of the LBP2 content, and everything else was expected to be downloaded from now (obviously) dead servers

It looks like they borrowed a lot of LBP2's assets and functionality to build what they had. It's cool to see what they were going for and I think it's fairly apparent that this got reworked into LBP3. I just wish they were transparent about it instead of playing coy.
