Great to see Colombia through the eyes of North Americans who don't have pre-conceived ideas. I lived in the mountains in Colombia for two years 40 years ago. I'm always blown away by the contrast between the modern second world Colombia today which in many ways surpasses the US (health care and transportation for example) with the impoverished third world country I knew only four decades ago.
@SailingOneLife2 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard! You are absolutely right. It is such a shame people still have a negative outlook on Colombia. We really enjoyed our time there and agree it surpasses the US in many aspects. We hope more people will visit Colombia and see how much the country has progressed. We can't wait to go back!

You guys are great and love your channel!! But.....your 3 desserts from the bakery were each in individual single use plastic?
@SailingOneLife2 жыл бұрын
Yup, guilty. It's virtually impossible to eliminate all single use plastics in our lives. We reduce it as much as we can, and even go as far as washing and reusing Ziploc bags for food on board. Plastic bottles that food or drinks come in get washed and reused for leftovers first and eventually for boat projects. Unfortunately where we travel food products almost always come prepacked in plastic containers. We wouldn't dare claim to be single-use-plastics-free, but are doing what we can.

Medellin has gone through a lot of changes since the Escobar days. Hats off to the Columbian government for committing to excellence. It wasnt easy. After Pablo was killed, his cartel fractured, and many tried to reestablish the cartel, but the government anticipated that and kept the city flooded with police and military for the next 20 years. They had a few prominent businesses invest in the city as well, which provided jobs, gentrification, better education, and you can't even recognize it if you were there 30 years ago. Almost the perfect storm. Instead of murder, gang crime, and kidnappings, you have expats actually coming in and never knowing it was once like that. Its quite the transformation, for sure! Glad you were able to see and witness that. They still produce coke there, though haha... mostly on the outskirts of the city. Very low key and underground but they dont dare expose their operations because unlike before the penalties are pretty severe. Makes me wonder why we dont do this kind of thing in the rough parts of American cities. Medellin should be the model you can copy. Anyway, thanks for the tour and keep making videos.... they're amazing! 💯🔥🙌

With all do respect, a bit of constructive criticism. As a first time visitor to your channel, there is no introduction as to who you are or anything about your adventures. Most successful channels offer a brief introduction so that newcomers understand who you are, and what your story is.

Thanks, Douglas! We appreciate your feedback. We've had two different intros and we are considering putting one back in. It is our hope that any one new to our channel will watch an episode or two and then decide to go to our first episode to learn more about our story and continue watching from there. Cheers!
