We've been camping in the basin by the second cabin for years, where the trail closes for vehicles past the creek there's a walking/biking trail with a beautiful view I would recommend it

Thanks for the compliment! If your on Facebook, check out the "friends of slickrock and sourgrass trail" group. Corral Hollow is within the territory of that group so there's always people announcing trips to corral hollow and inviting people to tag along.

Just camped there a couple weeks ago. We staying at the overlook at the 5 minute mark. We’ve also slept inside bear trap cabin in other trips. The aspen trees were beautiful when we were there.

Yeah I know the eastern sierras were going through the aspen color change about 2 weeks ago. Sounds like you visited just at the right time for that.

Thanks for taking the time to video, narrate, and edit. I like exploring, and have taken video, but doing the narration and editing is a pain. BTW, I was checking if I can take my teardrop with me. I think I can make that first mile with the boulders, (the trailer has sliders and 19" clearance) but the narrow twisties in the trees might get me hung up with lots of reversing.
@KlaptOutOffroad2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I absolutely hate editing and is why I barely put out any videos. But I appreciate your appreciation towards the hard work I put forth in this one. And I agree, some of those twisty section in the trees might hang you up so it might be better to pre run it without the trailer to gauge it for yourself.

Great video! Super helpful. Thinking of heading there this weekend. I have a stock TRD Pro 4runner. I've taken it on some pretty gnarly off road. Would you say the beginning part is basically capable for a rig like mine? I see you did it in you jeep when it was stock. I'm not looking to do the entire thing just going up to camp.

I recommend going from the tamarack side to cabbage patch side, or in other words the direction I took in the video. Just a heads up though, pretty much all trails above Dorrington, including Corral Hollow are still closed for the season until atleast may 31st

dude, nice! If you haven't seen, I have a MK4 golf with the 4" Jeep lift. Unfortunately I don't think it would be able to run the whole trail. Can probably make it to the cabin and back if you start from the Cabbage Patch side (where I came out at the end of the video)

I can confirm it is NOT allowed for us to drive into the ski resort. They have since added more logs to block the path. My advice is to avoid driving on their private property, they’ll try to close the trail if we trespass from corral hollow OHV

Take a look at the National Forrest vehicle use map for Stanislaus National Forrest (Calaveras Northeast). The road through the ski area is seasonally open to the public. Yes I know that is Alpine county, but the map designation is still Calaveras Northest.
