It's getting worse to use as more and more pages of mods are uploaded. They need to fix it. If you sort by name, you can see how people keep uploading the same mod over and over. They can't test without uploading so there are a bunch named test

Downloaded a Ram Ranch map from the CC and it was surprisingly playable and, dare I say, good. - New midi - Difficulty "ramp" from beginning to end - 100+ enemies at the exit in UV - Tasteful meme texture usage (only in one area) - Overall, on-par level making (IMO) + 18 Imps in the showers of Ram Ranch, and who can complain about that?

A problem I have with how mods work is that unless it's a doom 2 map pack, every single mod loads itself exclusively for Doom 1. Even trough it's said to work for Doom 2

D4Vanilla is a pretty cool one. It is two mods, one for Doom 1 and the other for 2. It makes the games art style look like a retro version of Doom 2016.

If peeps want more Final Doom, there's also TNT: Resistance and Plutonia 2 up. Someone also went through the effort of remaking all the Doom 64 maps in the Doom II engine. Lastly, as far to total conversion mods are concerned, Harmony and Sargasso are by far the best I've played on console.

I don’t think it’s because of Nintendo, but more due to limitations with the Switch. NightDive likely couldn’t get some of the more mod friendly code working properly on Switch without issues like crashing or abysmal performance so they decided that version will stick solely to mods endorsed by id. Now whether or not the mod browser will be added later with Switch 2, that remains to be seen.

Just know that the -file and -iwad command line arguments can still be used on the rerelease for the pc version, so you don’t HAVE to get a bethesda account to play wads nor are you limited to the mods that are uploaded there

Strictly speaking, its a GZDoom mod, so it's not going to work on any format of Vanilla Doom. Including these Kex Engine releases. There is actually a Vanilla version of the wad that is compatible, but it only features the basic house - none of the other areas and cool/freaky stuff.

Just played Sunlust, Eviternity, and Auger Zenith. All run really well on Kex Doom and I had a blast with them. Okuplok Slaughter Map is there too but it will kill your framerate, but worth it if you like Slaughter Maps. Boiled Doom needs to be available for Doom 2 and the expansions.

Honestly I wish there was some level of curation to it. A lot of people are uploading other peoples works. Also I wouldn't say "all of them" as it can only run up to Boom compatible maps, which greatly limits the selection, as most popular mods are .pk3 files

mbf21 is good, in that it doesn't change the core of the game like gzdoom and sticks close to the original aesthetic while providing a good amount of tools for making mods more interesting.

It's pretty bad. No searching. And aftet selecting a mod and backing out, it puts you back to page 1 and resets any sorting filters you've set. And to delete one you have to find it again.

the “flood gates” are not TOTALLY open…. no full conversions like brutal Doom / project brutality, or Ashes. if it doesn’t play exactly like classic Doom, it wont be available. still the best we’ve ever had on console.

The PSX Doom mod has colored lighting but when you are limited to the Doom Engine then there is nothing you can do. GZDoom is the better way of playing these mods. With this you can't play any map that has advanced features like 3D floors. So no Ashes 2063, Simon's Destiny, Total Chaos, The golden Souls, Pirate Doom and RAMP.

Loving this official new source port very much. I've played a lot community content over the years. It's nice that a broader audience can finally enjoy some of it without all the tinkering other source ports like Zandronum can require. I just wish we had multiplayer support for all the mod browser content that offers it. Like Memento Mori ( and II) for example, which I noticed you playing in this video. That was made with co-op in mind so the fact it's not an option for when you host your own lobbies is kinda sad. Maybe they'll implement a way to load those mods to custom lobbies in the future, but we're off to a great start anyway. Better late than never.
