Thanks very much! Here is how you prepare them: Preparation of Amanita Muscaria (Traditional method): Dry the caps until crispy dry at 105-120°F (or 40-50°C). (You need some heat to dry them, otherwise they may rot before they dry.)Seal tightly (to keep dry) and store for 2-3 months, then its time to enjoy! So, around the winter solstice would be the traditional season for the Fly Agaric consumption.

And what are the effects of ingestion?
@mikaso3 ай бұрын
@@tonimaria2100 When microdosing, it can me a great tonic in the cold season. For me, it was very antidepressive, and helped a lot with focus. I felt that it had a nurturing and healing vibe to it, if that makes sense, less nervous than microdosing with psilocybin mushrooms (at least for me). It is also used against pains and alcohol cravings, and helps with sleep also. Ingesting larger amounts is not my expertise, as I only did it once. But it was extremely profound, and long-lasting (+12hrs). The comeup was a bit rough, or rather felt like it was about to become, but thankfully never did. "Almost very scary", sort of, with sound distorsions. (Which was still scary enough, for me.) Then within 1h I was back, feeling great, communicative and witty. With a super clear head and focus, very quite different to any drug I tried. Very stimulant, but without the jitter. No cold sweat at all. I also recieved "a download", right at the come-up. Something like "stick to what you already know", or "when you got the message, please hang up the phone". And after that, I stopped microdosing also.

A long time ago, I read that the reindeer ate the fly agaric, and when they urinated, their urine contained the psychedelic compounds without the harmful molecules. Because of that, Arctic shaman often drank the reindeer's urine after the reindeer had snacked on the fly agaric. As for Santa Claus, well, he was originally an ogre that climbed down the chimney and ate naughty children (which is why parents left food out for Father Christmas, so he wouldn't eat the kids).

@@Redchilly-s2e Interestingly, the original Sumerian word for Satan was SA-TAN, which meant 'manager' or 'overseer'. The ogre was red-faced (which explains the red motif). The good side of 'Santa Claus' came much later, when they added the element of St Nicholas leaving presents for children.

The shamans did not drink the urine but the poor people did as you can 'recycle' the hallucinogenic properties this way. The shamans eat it. The toxins that cause liver damage are not present in fly agaric but are with other amanitas.

I had never heard about microdosing this one, very interesting. Although of course extreme caution and thorough research is warranted like you said. I think I remember Terence McKenna saying that the effects can be unpredictable from one mushroom/gathering place to the next. And have also heard that in the past some people would drink their reindeer's urine after the reindeer had been eating the mushrooms. Or indeed their own urine after they themselves had been eating them, in order to trip some more!
@mikaso3 ай бұрын
It works great, although some people don't seem to get any effects at all. It is a lot more common to use it in eastern Europe. The typical microdose is 1-3 g of dried caps, and the most common uses are to manage pain, depression, and alcoholism.
@eddiegrant583 ай бұрын
@@mikaso I was reading a lot about this mushroom last night and very intrigued. For microdosing do people typically just eat the dried cap as it is? I read that up to 1g was an apporopriate microdose but still to do a lot more reading so will bear your suggestion in mind. But also read that there is no fully accurate way to gauge it because a small cap in some cases might have more of the active constituents than a huge cap - you can never be sure. And that for higher doses you are better to make a tea using some vinegar or lemon juice to remove the small amount of ibotenic acid which remains, or something like that?
@mikaso3 ай бұрын
@@eddiegrant58 Hi there! Yes Eddie, eat the cap as is or make a tea out of it. I used to crumble it up and rinse down with water. It is much easier to swallow than other shrooms, practically dissolves in water. The risk of a "hot" dose is exaggerated IMO, but you can still make a tea out of several caps, and divide it up into doses. It can be very handy when you first figure out your personal dose. (Tea is good for several days in the fridge, btw.) If the caps have been stored for 2-3 months, all the IBO will be converted anyways, its much better. Trying to convert the IBO in the freshly dried caps using lemon is not a good idea, as it is notoriously irreproducible. (IBO stomach ache is horrible btw) Also, if you go to long/too acidic, the citric acid will kill the muscimol and render the tea inactive. PS: My starting dose was only 0.25 g, did have to raise it after a while though.
@eddiegrant583 ай бұрын
@@mikaso Thanks so much for your reply! I was wondering about a few things... - Presumably a "hot" dose involves mushroom(s) which have a much higher than average level of IBO? - Do you have to dry the caps above a certain temperature in order for the IBO to convert? I have heard 70 degrees+ although not sure if Celsius or Fahrenheit. - For tea, how long should you simmer the caps for? I have heard 20 minutes and I have heard 3 hours. - I will take your word that using lemon is not a good idea, but what do you mean when you say that "it is notoriously irreproducible"? Does this mean that the extent to which lemon converts the IBO can vary? Some people are saying to add the lemon to the tea after you have finished simmering, presumably this should also be avoided? - You said IBO stomach ache is horrible - isn't there still some level of IBO left over in the dried caps and in the tea if you make a tea from the dried caps? If so, then presumably it is still fine for a microdose, but could cause problems at higher doses? Is there any additional way you know of to reduce the level of IBO, aside from drying (and/or storing for 2-3 months)? He said in the video you can ferment in milk (I have also heard yoghurt) but he didn't mention for how long. I am just a bit confused because people are saying that it's dangerous if not prepared properly... but then I'm also hearing that all you need to do is dry it and it's fine to consume. Anyway, thanks again, I won't ask any more questions after this!
@mikaso3 ай бұрын
@@eddiegrant58 No worries! Yes, that's what I meant with a hot dose. The caps will look much nicer if dried at 40-50°C (it's how the Lithuanian vendors dry it, too), and may take on a burnt appearance if dried hotter. The whole point of storing 2-3 months is that you don't have to rely on high drying temperature, nor simmering in lemon juice, because all IBO converts during storing. Yes, thats what I ment with irreproducible. When I tried out the lemon tek, it worked well a couple of times, but then I got IBO pains from one tea batch (and from just a microdose!). Then I boiled it longer, and ended up with a tea that was completely inactive. And about the ibotenic acid, I am probably hyper sensitive for it, btw. Because I have a friend who can eat small doses of raw Amanita without discomfort. So it seems to be very individual. Good luck my freind, greetings from Sweden PS: Unpasterurized milk was used traditionally, too, maybe it does the same conversion enzymatically? Because I think I heard that raw Amanita can be prepared with milk somehow.

I dry them and have a small piece from two mushrooms, this is like a good caffeine kick that will last longer, gives you some extra energy. Drying doesn't get rid of all the Ibotenic acid. Which is what give you extra energy boost. But to much will I'm make you sick. So start with a small amount, about the size of a 10p Making tea with lemon juice, recipes are online. Will convert a lot more Ibotenic acid to muscimol. This will help to relax you and aid with sleep, and maybe vivid dreams.

Not likely you would die from them. They are in reality not highly toxic and the body can proccess the active compounds which are in them. If prepared properly, and then consumed, they have a psychoactive effect. Normally described as sedative and euphoric at moderate doses. People have known about this for mellennia.
