Last night in the streets of Seomyeon a drunk Korean girl recommended i eat Gukbap, a food famous in Busan. I headed towards the ocean in search of Gukbap and got very lost along the way, i came across a chattering bunch of ajumas, an old man being displaced from huis shanty home and a friendly alley cat, who enjoyed having their belly rubbed.

I got to know this channel while searching through North Korean matters until I met a video about a town near the DMZ line. I served my 24month of 39month military in Cheolwon. Here I met Dan in his Keizer's mustache meeting and interviewing the 'Real' Korea. This makes me even more proud of my Nation, ROK.

Loving those backstreet explorations. Was trying to figure out where you were near the old streets/beach area. Almost looked like some of the older areas near geumyeongsan. Loved the laid back and chill vibe of this vid!

It's different to look at an old building full of emotion and actually live in it. The majority of people living in the old building do not want redevelopment, but through proper measures. It's just a little funny to look at the world with clumsy emotions or nostalgia. It shows a different aspect of Korea, but I don't know what's different from just Westerners going to slums in India and feeling the satisfaction wrapped in sadness. They live in an alley where even fire trucks can't get in. Is it best to leave them alone? Unresolved sentimentalism, Instagram sensibilities do them no good

Thanks for sharing these videos. One thing I don't understand about Korea is why they are pulling down so many buildings, it is like they are destroying the heart and soul of the country. I visited Seoul in 2019 after a rather long absence and I was surprised how many areas I once knew and loved have been bulldozed and replaced by boring apartment buildings or generic shopping centres. Seoul feels so artificial now. Can you see a reversal of this trend? Do you think these older neighbourhoods would ever become heritage listed or turned into "cool" hipster districts much like we have seen in Western cities like London and New York?

I completely agree... so many of the neighborhoods that have that unique seoul characteristic are being ripped down for Gucci shops and Sim city buildings. The Korean people will regret it 50 years in the future when they look back on how it used to be. The only area i know of that is holding on to this retro feeling is Euljiro, but even that is shrinking in size! Check out 'hipjoro' when you're back in seoul!

How do all the restaurants and establishments you frequent respond when you stroll in filming all the workers and customers? I understand you may not want to break the fourth wall, but do you stop in beforehand and ask permission to film? Certainly some customers would rather not be spontaneously filmed and put on KZbin (unblurred) without permission.

You'd be surprised, people don't really mind. The one thing i make sure of when interacting with people is if they want to be on camera or not. Normally i will be pointing the camera at myself and i can tell if someone wants to be on cam or not from their looks and posture. Also, i have had times where people have asked me not to be on camera and i haven't used the footage, so it all depends really mate.
